Maya practically sprinted across campus, praying the lecture hall doors would swallow her whole before anyone noticed the faint coffee stain still lingering on her jacket. She slipped into the back row, sliding into an empty seat with a quiet sigh of relief.
Safe, she thought.
"I wouldn't count on it," a low, amused voice murmured from right beside her.
Maya whipped her head around. Sitting just one desk over, leaning back with effortless arrogance, was the exact same guy from the quad. He propped his chin on his hand, his dark eyes sparkling with a teasing light.
"Looks like we're classmates, coffee-spill," he whispered, his smirk widening.
Maya scowled, crossing her arms tightly over her chest. "Of course we are. Because my day wasn't already going disastrously enough."
He chuckled softly, leaning a bit closer. "Hey, look on the bright side. At least you've got front-row seats to my charm now. By the way, the name's Leo."
Maya rolled her eyes, turning back to her notebook just as the professor walked in. Even with the lecture about to start, she could still feel his gaze lingering on her. This is going to be a very long semester, she thought, gripping her pen a little tighter.
