(Wakes’s POV) The second I got into the car, I slammed the door and barked at the driver. “Move. Now.” The engine roared to life, tires spinning against the pavement as we shot away from the gala. The city lights blurred past the window, but I didn’t see them. All I saw, all I could see, was her… the way she had walked past me, the way Blake had blocked me, the way the crowd had pressed against us like witnesses to my humiliation.
