The next three contestants were Ezekiel, Cody, and Eva. In all honesty, I'm not too worried about Ezekiel or Cody. I'm actually convinced Ezekiel has never been in the outside world a day in his life. No really, it seems like he's never even talked to a person before. I don't really like Cody much. He's only been here for five minutes and has already flirted with literally every girl here, it's quite creepy. Now Eva, that is someone I do not want to mess with. Not only is she ripped, she's also intimidating and not very welcoming. I'd like to be on a team with her because I think we can win with her, however, I wouldn't want to go toe go toe! One look from her, and it's over for me.
"Wooooooooooohooooooooooooo! Chris! What's happenin'?!" The next contestant exclaims. "This is awesome! Woooooohoooo!"
"Owen! Welcome!" Chris says with a smile.
To his surprise, Owen hugs him and practically squishes him in his arms.
"Awesome to be here, man! Man, this is so..."
"Awesome?" I finish for him.
"Yes! Awesome, woohoo! Are you going to be on my team?"
"I sure hope so," I answer with an awkward smile.
He's super sweet, don't get me wrong, but he's just so... Loud... But nice. I can tell he's a positive person, which is great, but I know there will be times where I don't want positive, sometimes I'll need quiet. I don't know, we'll see how it goes.
"And here comes Courtney," Chris says.
Courtney arrives and waves at all of us. I wave back kindly. Chris gives her a hand and helps her off the boat.
"Thanks," she says. "Hi, you must be the other contestants. It's really nice to meet you all."
"Hi! I'm Mali... bu, bu, bu-who is that?"
I was introducing myself when someone catches my attention. Not just a someone, the hottest humanbeing I've ever seen in my life. Move over Duncan, I've found the real hottie of the competition. All the girls, including myself, rush forward to meet the actual God.
"He's hot," Lindsay gushes.
"You can say that again," I say, feeling as though I'm going to melt.
"He's not so great," Duncan scoffs.
"Everyone, this is Justin. Welcome to Total Drama Island," Chris introduces and he and Justin fist pump.
"Thanks, Chris. This is great."
Even his voice is sexy.
"Just so you know, we picked you based entirely on looks," Chris explains.
"I can deal with that," Justin says and he walks over to us.
As he passes, we make eye contact and he smiles that perfect smile with those perfect teeth. I'd pass out if we weren't on national television. I know if Warner were here, he'd piss his pants.
"I like your shoes," he compliments me.
He has perfect taste, too!
"Thanks, I like your face," I tell him, and he winks at me.
He's so hot!
"Hey everyone, Izzy!" Chris introduces.
Thank goodness she's the last contestant. I think I'm all out of smiles. I like meeting people, but this is a competition. And I know what you're thinking, 'but weren't you just flirting with Justin?' That may be true, but it was a moment of weakness. Something we all go through, so don't judge me!
"First things first, we need a group photo for the promos. Everyone on the end of the dock."
We all walk to the end of the dock while Chris jumps onto the boat. I stand in between Duncan and Leshawna. I have to nail this, Warner will kill me If butcher this picture.
"One, two, three..."
I give my best smile as a snap sound is heard. We look at Chris and he frowns.
"I forgot the lens cap."
Ugh, Chris!
"Okay, hold that pose. One, tw-- Oh no, wait, cards full. Hang on."
"Come on, man. My face is starting to freeze," Leshawna complains.
"Got it. Okay, everyone say "Wawanakwa!"
"Wawanakwa!" We shout.
I start feeling a rumbling under my feet, and I look up nervously. This cannot be happening. I know this island is a dump, but it can't be this bad! Can it? Within seconds the dock collapses, and we all fall in the water. Well that answers that question. Everyone panics, but come on, it's just water. I look at Chris and he goes to take the picture again. Though I'm soaking wet, I still give the best smile I can muster. I can only imagine the horror Warner is going to feel when he sees this. I hear the click of the camera, and this time he got it. The picture is finally taken.
...
"This is Camp Wawanakwa, your home for the next eight weeks." Chris explains.
We were able to dry off, and now we're all waiting at the campfire pit. There are a lot less cameras here than I thought there would be. I'm glad to see they're hidden away, besides the two camera dudes who have been following us around.
"The campers sitting around you will be your cabin mates, your competition and maybe even your friends you dig. The camper who manages to stay on Total Drama Island the longest without getting voted off will win $100,000!"
"Excuse me? What will the sleeping arrangements be? Because I'd like to request a bunk under her," Duncan interrupts Chris and winks at me.
Ugh, the nerve of this guy.
"They're not co-ed, are they?" I ask after Duncan's little remark.
"Noooo. Girls get one side of each cabin and dudes get the other."
"Excuse me, Kyle. Can I have a cabin with the lake view since I'm the prettiest?" Lindsay asks.
"Okay, you are, but that's not really how it works here, and it's Chris."
"I have to live with Sadie or I'll die," Katie exaggerates.
-Though she may not be exaggerating.
"And I'll break out in hives," Sadie adds.
"Here's the deal. We're gonna split you into two teams, if I call your name out, go stand over there. Gwen, Trent, Heather, Cody, Lindsay, Beth, Kadie, Owen, Leshawna, Justin, and Noah. From this moment on, you are officially known as, the Screaming Gophers!" Chris explains.
"Yeah! I'm a gopher!" Owen celebrates loudly.
"Wait! What about Sadie?" Katie asks sadly.
"The rest of you over here. Geoff, Bridgette, D.J, Malibu, Tyler, Sadie, Izzy, Courtney, Ezekiel, Duncan, Eva, and Harold. Move, move, move!"
"But Katie's a gopher! I have to be a gopher!" Sadie cries.
"Sadie, is it? Come on, it'll be okay," Courtney says nicely as she wraps her arms around her.
"You guys will officially be known as the Killer Bass!"
Oh yay, we're a fish. That's so... Great. Wait, 1, 2, 3...
"Hey Chris, there are 23 of us. The teams are uneven," I point out.
"Hmm, I guess you're right. Well, the team with least amount of members are just going to have to fight a lot harder!"
Is he kidding? I hope the rest of the competition isn't this chaotic and unorganized.
"And instead of two members competing in the finale," he continues. "We'll just have the final three, and that fixes that. Alright campers, you and your team will be on camera in all public areas during this competition. You will also be able to share your innermost thoughts on tape with video diaries anytime you want. Let the audience at home know what you're really thinking, or just get something off your chest."
...
"Hi, my name is Malibu!" I introduce myself to the video diaries- which is just a nasty, dirty porta potty in the middle of the forest.
"I'm so excited to be here! Back in California, I usually attended Summer Camp for a few weeks, and then my dad and I would spend the rest of my vacation time together. I graduated high school a few weeks ago, and I wanted to try something new since I start university once summer is over. My last hoorah, ya know? Of course I wouldn't be here without my best friend and the best talent manager in the business, Warner Bradley! He's the one who got me this gig. Quite fast actually. And when we win this thing, I'm going to start my very own shoe line thanks to him. Malibu is the name, shoe fashion is the game!"
....
I think my first video entry went great! The porta potty stinks, but other than that, it wasn't so bad. I think If I play my cards right, the audience will grow to like me. I promised myself to stay authentic. I want to show people out there that I am a hard worker and I deserve that money.
Chris walks all of us over to the cabins, and on our way, I check out the area. If we're going to be living here and doing challenges, I need to know the grounds.
I hope Warner appreciates that little plug in I did for him. Of course I didn't lie. I think he has a real talent for this stuff. He should ditch the whole reality tv thing and become a manager full time. He's too genuine to be a shallow reality star. He's obviously good at it since he saw something in me that I didn't.
"Hey Beautiful, I guess we're on the same team together. Try not to get in my way," Duncan says while walking up to me.
"You don't have to worry about that, you just worry about keeping up with me," I tell him boldly.
He stops walking and looks at ne stunned. I laugh as I pass him. Hmm, if he thinks he can get under my skin like that.. He's right, but he doesn't have to know that, and neither does the audience.
"Bunk Beds? Isn't that a little summer camp?" Heather asks as we enter the cabin.
Bunk beds, that's what she's worried about? Maybe she should worry about the rotting cabin we're staying in. Or how about the moldy wood, or how about how with every step we take it feels like we're about to fall through the floor? Or the radioactive roaches that we have to bunk with?
"That's the idea, genius," Gwen says as she rolls her eyes at Heather.
"Shut up, weird goth girl."
"You're so smart, I feel that," Cody says to Gwen as he stares creepily at her.
"Shouldn't you be on the boy's side, you creep?!" I ask feeling creeped out by his presence.
Gwen and I look at each other. I think we're on the same page here. I help her toss him out of our cabin, and I can still hear his screams from outside.
After dealing with Cody, Gwen and I joined everyone else outside, and Chris leads us to the dining hall. I don't want to seem like a diva, but I really hope the food here is good. I have a weak stomach. One time, I watched an episode of Grey's Anatomy, and next thing I know, the food I ate an hour earlier was out of my stomach and on the floor. Yeah, one valve of fake blood on a fake hospital show did that, so I really really hope the food here is good, or at least edible.
"Listen up! I serve it three times a day, and you'll eat it three times a day! Grab a tray, get your food, and sit your butts down NOW!" The chef yells at us.
He's scary, like really scary. He's literally 7 feet tall and he's clutching a very large knife in one hand. He's what appears when you're having a nightmare. BUT, if I'm going to be here for 8 weeks, then I need to suck it up. I shouldn't let some scary cook and gross food get in the way of winning this competition.
I grab a tray and I give chef a friendly smile. He only lets out a grunt and places a glob of food, if you can even call it that, on my plate. I just won't look at it, then everything will be fine. I decide to sit next to Gwen who looks just as disgusted as I am.
"Okay, I hate to be predictable and complain on the first day, but I think mine just moved," Gwen says.
"Oh, god. It did," I say as I start to feel nauseous.
I place my hand over my mouth, already feeling the bile in my throat.
"Welcome to the Main Lodge!" Chris announces.
"Yo, my man. Can we order a pizza or something? Malibu looks like she's about to barf, " Geoff says, and everyone looks my way.
The chef throws a cleaver his way and luckily Geoff dodges it. Me on the other hand is trying to keep my insides from becoming my outsides. It's a good thing I snuck in a boat load of snacks in my suitcase, Warner's idea of course.
"Your first challenge begins in one hour!"
"What do you think they'll make us do?" Katie asks.
"It's our first challenge," Dj starts. "How hard can it be?"
...
"Oh sh**!"
