BY THE time the room finally settled into silence, the exhaustion from the last two nights had fully caught up to me. My body felt heavy and overheated, every muscle reminding me exactly why moving suddenly sounded impossible.
"You look exhausted," Nate murmured near my ear.
"That's your fault," I replied weakly.
A quiet laugh escaped him before he lifted me again.
I let out a tired sigh. "What now?"
"We're gonna shower."
"I can walk, Nate."
He raised a brow. "Can you?"
The irritating part was that I honestly wasn't sure.
