  Nate   "ALISTAIR," I said slowly, "he's your stepfather's son?"   Sienna didn't look surprised by the question. She nodded once. "Yes."   I studied her for a moment before she continued on her own, as if deciding there was no point in stopping halfway.   "My father died when I was fourteen," she said. "A year later, my mother remarried. Alistair came with that side of the family, and eventually my half-brother was born."   Her tone stayed even, but I noticed the slight pause before she mentioned her brother.   "I don't go back there often," she added. "It doesn't feel like home."
