Nate BY THE time I reached the breakfast area, Lucas was already sitting at one of the folding tables with a cup of coffee in hand. Marcus arrived a few minutes later carrying a plate loaded with food and looking annoyingly refreshed for someone who had disappeared half the night. Nate looked him over and shook his head. "You look far too energetic for a man who claims he's been working." Marcus sat down across from us. "Maybe you're just getting old." "That's rich coming from someone whose back started hurting at twenty-eight." Lucas snorted into his coffee. Marcus pointed at him immediately. "Don't encourage him." "I wasn't encouraging him," Lucas said. "I was appreciating accuracy." Marcus rolled his eyes but looked relaxed, completely at ease with himself.
