HAZEL’S POV
The loud banging on the door, roused me up from my slumber. I blinked in the dimly lit room and my eyes trailed to the window, only to see that the sun had disappeared from the sky and the moon has taken it’s place.
Just how long had I fallen asleep?
My stomach grumbled and I realised, I missed lunch. I let out a heavy sigh, as I used my fingers to run through my hair. The heavy banging came on the door again, making me jolt back.
“It is time for dinner. Come out or dinner will be over soon.”
At the sound of dinner, my stomach rumbled again. I picked myself up from the floor and made my way to the door. Once I was out of the room, and in the hallway I froze. The whole place was crowded with maids, who were rushing towards the dining hall.
I inserted myself into the crowd, and followed them to the dinning hall. They all rushed in, most of them bumping into me and almost knocking me over. I kept my balance as my eyes were fixed on the direction they were running to.
Right passed the long dining table, were a row of large pots and a a section for plates. I observed as the maids rushed to take a plate and a spoon, and formed a line in front of the large pot that was as big as a bulldozer.
As they formed a line, I quietly walked over to the section where the plates and spoons resided. I picked up a plate and grimaced at its old appearance. It was a wooden plate that looked worn out, and has a few scratches and cracks on it.
The spoon was in the same condition. A few chips here and there, but still deemed usually. I cringed, but had no choice but to pick it up. I joined the line, which has extended all the way down to the door.
I stood there and patiently waited for the line to reduce, until it reaches my turn. The woman, who wore a net anda scowl on her face sneered at me. I looked into the pot and saw that there was barely any food left.
What food was that even?
She scooped the last bits with her large spoon, and dropped it on my plate. I grimaced and quietly went to find a seat. Everyone has began to wolf down their meal, but all I could do was stare at it.
The item in the bowl could not be recognised as food. It looked like white porridge, having yellow clumps in it. I frowned, my appetite leaving me. I knew I had no choice but to eat it, my stomach was already tormenting me for the number of days I had skipped my meals.
I picked up the spoon and took a bit. Contrary to how it looked, it tasted rather decent. I took a few more spoons and began to eat my meal quietly.
The whole dining hall was quiet for a few seconds, before whispers began to erupt from all sides of the table. I could feel gazes on me, boring into my very soul, but I choss to ignore them.
I kept my gaze fixed on my plate, but the tension in the air was making me feel uncomfortable by the minute. I couldn’t enjoy my meal, and it was getting harder to push it down my throat. I kept eating however, and the whispers seemed to get louder by each passing second.
“I heard she begged the alpha to bring her here, and make her a concubine,” I heard one of them whisper.
Beg Killian? I gripped my spoon tighter as anger rushed through me. They had no idea how Killian had burst into my own wedding, killed a few people and taken me against my will. Now, I am forced to participate in this pack activities like I wanted to be here.
Their arrogance angered me, but I decided to restrain myself to avoid any conflict from arising, like last time. But the words of that younger maid that has approached me, was stuck in my mind, and they began to play all over in my head.
“She wanted to become a concubine and she thought she’d be given princess treatment by the alpha?” One of the snickered.
“Or maybe she wanted to be his Luna?”
I scrapped my spoon against the almost emptied plate. Their words were grating the end of my nerves and I could feel the ire inside of me, ready to burst. Me? Killian’s luna? I scoffed.
I wanted nothing to do with a murderous bastard like him. I was going to be happily married with the man I loved. I was going to live a good life with him, and give birth to his children. I was going to be his Luna.
“That is so absurd. How can someone as weak as her be a Luna? She can’t even manifest her wolf.”
Giggles erupted around the table. I clenched the spoon harder, as my anger was reached it’s peak.
“You know, I just think she’s a slut that’s trying to get into alpha Killian’s bed. She’s just like all those other shameless girls that go for him like mindless animals.”
I slammed my fists on the table, the spoon flying to the ground. The whole room went silent, and all eyes were now fixed on me. My eyes trailed through each of them maids, until I found the one that has uttered such nonsense from her mouth.
“How dare you say that about me, right to my face?” i seethed.
She swayed her brown hair, her black eyes glinting at me with a hint of mischief in the. She smirked and it aggravated me even more.
“What do you mean? I was only telling my friends, you’re the one that happened to hear it. Or were you so interested in our conversation that you intentionally started listening to us?”
The maids around her giggled and that was when I snapped.
“Oh, don’t be stupid, I know you wanted me to hear all of that.”
She shrugged. “Well, there is freedom of speech yeah?”
“Of course and but that doesn’t permit you to be a b***h. Or is that just your primary nature?”
I could see the way her eyes twitched. She frowned, folding her arms.
“A harlot has no right to be calling me a bitch.”
“You seem to be projecting who you are on to me. I mean, how else would you know that a lot of girls are trying to get into alpha Killian’s bed huh? Maybe you’re one of them?”
The girl slammed her hands on the table and shut up from my chair.
“What do you know about me?!”
“I could say the same thing for you, what do you know about me? Don’t go around being an ignorant asshole, and keep your dirty little mouth shut.”
Everyone gasped and the room feel silent. I could see the eyes of her friends on her, wondering what she was going to say, or do. They began to whisper and her face went red hot with embarrassment.
The girl groaned and marched up to me. Before I could react, she landed a slap across my cheek. The pain reverberated through my nerves and I stood there, holding my cheek in shock.
My anger burst out and I grabbed her neck, slamming her to the ground. Everyone began to yell as I tightened my fists around her neck. We began to struggle, but I wasn’t going to let go of her.
“What the f**k is this?!”
Killian’s voice rang through my whole being, and I shot up from the girl. I looked at him, and his eyes were filled with anger.
“Everyone, get the f**k out,” He growled, while keeping his bloodshot eyes on me.
The girl picked herself up from the ground and all the maids scampered out. Ire was rising up in me. How could he look at me like that, when I wasn’t the cause for all of this.
“Look, I didn’t start this! That maid started talking trash about me and she even slapped me! They kept-“
“Shut the f**k up, I do not care,” Killian cut in.
I was stunned as I gazed at him with wide eyes. He pointed at me, his eyes ablaze with rage.
“I do not care who started it, but you joined in. My reputation is already bad as it is because of you, do not make it worse, or there will be consequences.”
I blinked at him. “What do you mean? What’s going on?”
“That is none of your business,” He snapped, “Just behave yourself, and do not get into fights.”
As I was about this speak up again, Killian stormed out, leaving me enraged. How could he order me around, when I was hear against my own will? I clenched my fists, my blood boiling. I made a decision then and there;
I will not take Killian’s orders just like that. I will make my own orders.
