The nature of police work can routinely open the dark side of a person. As a result, cops regularly indulge themselves in very inappropriate, taboo, dark humor, and subjects. For example, on one particularly boring day on patrol, Bobby and Joey debated how many five-year old children attacking them could they handle before being overpowered. Due mainly to his more macho instincts, Joey stated that the number was unlimited and that the kids would never overpower him. Bobby, however, was more pragmatic. He reasoned that after twenty-five to thirty kids were hanging on him, fatigue, and the inability to move, would overcome him. Only cops could have a serious debate on a subject like that. On more than one occasion Bobby and Joey theorized that taking a bullet in the head was likely painless
