CHAPTER 5 THE LIEUTENANT 0605 hours—The Last Day: Lt. Joey Galeno activated a short burst of the siren on his unmarked Chevy Caprice. The siren stirred the armed security guard from his blissful sleep, and he lazily yawned as he pressed the button that lowered the Delta Barrier. As Joey drove past the bullet proof security booth he returned the wave of the guard, who was a retired NYPD cop he had worked with several years earlier.
