Besides learning to spot guns, Bobby also schooled Joey on the myriad of transit crimes he would encounter. It was during a midnight shift on the shuttle platform at Grand Central that Professor Moylan opened the next chapter in Joey Galeno’s subway crime education. The shuttle continuously made the short trip under 42nd Street between Grand Central and Times Square. At night, the train would sit at the platform for twenty minutes before commencing its run crosstown.
At approximately 3 a.m., Bobby and Joey entered the lead car of the platformed shuttle train. Bobby stopped and pointed to the only occupant in the car. A well-dressed middle-aged white male was in a state of blissful sleep. Bobby drew Joey’s attention to the only noteworthy factor regarding the male’s appearance.
