I sit up in my bed wondering what to do at 4:30 am. Unable to sleep. Wide awake. As per usual for me. I grab my phone. And the minute I do a get a text from Sam. Sam: wanna get coffee? Me: omg I was literally just about to text you asking.. Sam: omw I laugh and grab my shoes slipping them on. I grab my back and slip on a sweatshirt and head downstairs quietly before he gets here. I wait outside. When I see his car pull up like a minute later. I hop in. "Hey," I said. "Hey" he replies. It was a thing now. "So is this our thing?" I asked. "Getting coffee in the middle of the night sure" he nods. "What if one day we get into a fight?" I asked. "If this gonna be our tradition?" I asked. "Well, it depends on the level of the fight. If it's a big one. Of us are bound to not show up. If it's small. This so how we get over it" he shrugs. "Cool," I said and we both laugh. "Why are we weird?" He asks. "I don't know. We need to work on it" I sigh. "Yeah definitely" he nods. We stop at the place. We hoe out getting our offers and heading back to the car. "For a drive?" He asks I nod. "So your mom was very motivational today" I state. "Oh god," he sighs. "No, I liked it" I smiled. "It was a great pep talk about my boy issues that you had to bring up again." "Right" he chuckles. I sip my coffee. "She's a cool mom," I say. "Yeah I guess" he laughs. "I guess she can be embarrassing when she wants to" he sighs. "Do you think Dylan will like the haircut?" "Don't know. Don't care" I shrug. "Wanna go somewhere tomorrow?" I asked. "Do you have an idea of where or just asking?" He asks. "There's this hike I go on with Austin and Stella sometimes. It's super nice" I said. "Wanna go?" "Yeah sure why not, still new here" he nod. "Cool, That was a weird random thing to ask. I just thought I need to really get out of my house sometimes" I laugh. "Yeah, it's fine. I do to" he nods. "We're kind of boring teens" he laughs. "Definitely" I nod. "So boring." ~ I put on some black pants with checkered along the side of them, and a white thin long sleeve top. Almost crop top-y not really. It's kind of long but not too long. I kept my hair down obviously. I slip on my vans and grab my bag and phone. I head downstairs. I grab a granola bar for myself or 4 for later. I eat 2 and ten Sam shows up. I get into his car. "Wassup b***h" I said. "Did this hair get you sassier?" He asks. "I don't know maybe" I shrug. "Want one" I point a granola bar towards him he shakes his head. "You came a little early." "Yeah. I wanted to her coffee" he says. "Good idea" I nod. "I need it. Running on no sleep." "What's new?" He laughs. "Yeah. You're right" I sigh. "So when's your birthday?" I asked.   "December" he answers.   "How do I not know this yet?" I question.   "I don't know" he laughs. He parks the car at the place. We get out and get our coffee and leave for school. We walk in.   "b***h!!!! OH, MY GAWWWWDDDDD!!" Austin stops my walking. "You look AMAZING!!" He squeals. I laugh.   "Thanks," I say.   "NO!! This looks better than your longer hair honestly!" He tells me.   "Yeah, I like it better" I nod.   "I'm so into you. b***h you look f*****g HOT!" He smiles I laugh again.   "Yeah yeah," I wave him off going to my locker. "Is Stel still sick?" I asked.   "Yeah, she might not make it Friday" he shrugs. "Sucks for her. Can't see daddddddyyyy."   "Ew shut up" I roll my eyes.   "Sorry for the brutal truth" he laughs. He plays with my hair. "I'm obsessed with you."   "Yeah I can tell you sick b***h" I say he laughs. I shut my locker.   "If we never end up with people can we get married?" He asks.   "Definitely" I nod.   "Wow, your hair" Kyle and Caleb come up.   "Yeah" I nod.   "It's so short!" Kyle lifts a piece and drops it. "Looks good."   "Yeah. I know" I nod again.   "It suits you," Caleb says.   "Are we not over this already?" Sam shows up randomly.   "We just saw it," Caleb and Kyle say. Sam stares at me. He's been doing this a lot.   "You're being a creep dude. Look away" I tell him.   "Sorry" he laughs and scratches the back of his head. He bites his lip and turns around. "I'm gonna get to class" he sighs walking away.   "What's up with him?" They ask me.   "I don't know. He was completely fine before" I shrug sipping my coffee.   "Weird" Austin smirks.   "What?" I asked.   "Nothing" he shakes his head grinning.   "I'll see you guys later, I'm going to see what's up with that freak," I say.   "You do you girl," Austin says as I walk away. "Shake that ass." I get to our class.   "Hey what's up with you?" I asked sitting down next to him. He looks at me.   "Nothing" he shakes his head. "Just needed to write this thing quickly before class started, we had to finish it" he shrugs.   "You sure you're okay?" I asked.   "Yeah I'm great" he nods. He looks at me then back to his sheet of paper and closed his eyes for a couple of seconds.   "Dude?" I question.   "Hmm?" He hums back.   "I don't believe you" I state.   "You should."   "I don't. I know you" I state.   "Jo don't push it. I'm good" he mutters. I squint a bit.   "Fine" I reply. What's wrong with him?   "Jo?" Said a voice. I turn. Andrew was looking at me.   "Your hair!" He states. "It's short." "I didn't notice," I said sarcastically. "Haha" he rolls his eyes. "It looks nice." "I know thanks" I smile he laughs rolling his eyes again. "I thought Dylan was the type to go for the classic long-haired blonde girl," Andrew says. "It's my hair. I can do what I please with it" I shrug. "Nice" he laughs. The teacher walks in putting his stuff down on the desk.   "Hello, Guys. Hopefully, you've all done your homework assignment because it needs to be handed into me right now" he sits down at the desk.   "s**t" I mutter. "Hopefully I finished it" I sigh getting it out. "Want me to bring yours?" I asked Sam.   "Yeah thanks" he nods I take it for him and hand it in.   "Wow Jo, ding a good deed and handing in someone else's as well," the teacher says.   "Hey I can be nice, rarely" I shrug.   "Mm," he nods.   "You should really believe in me John" I state using his first name.   "You do not call me by my first name Jo," he says as I start walking away. I turn around winking.   "Alright, John" I smile and sit down. ~   I shove my s**t into my messy locker and shut it. It was now lunch.   "Wow I need to clean this thing," I tell myself.   "Jo?" I heard Dylan in a questioning tone. I turn around taking a deep breath.   "Hey," I say.   "Your hair" he grabs some letting it fall from his hands.   "Yeah, I cut more than half of it off" I laugh. "Like it?"   "Yeah.." he says a little warily. Hah. I guess Andrew was right.   "If you don't you can say so, it's my hair anyways. Only matters if I like it" I shrug.   "No you look good" he shakes his head. "When did you get it done?"   "Yesterday" I shrug.   "Wanna hang out today?" He asks.   "I'm going on a hike with some friends" I admit.   "Oh okay," he nods. He seemed disappointed. We don't hang out that much.   "You can join!" I add-in. Hate feeling bad. It's so annoying.   "Yeah, i'll see. I might have practice today" he shrugs.   "Ok, I'm gonna go eat," I said he nods.   "Yeah see you in class" he kisses me lightly and I leave. Why was that awkward?   "Ooh, were you and your bf talking about how sexy you look?" Austin asks.   "No, he doesn't like it" I laugh.   "What!?" They all almost yell out.   "Well, he didn't say he didn't. But you can tell" I shrug. "Whatever. It's my hair."   "He's annoying. You look sexier than s*x" Austin nudges me I laugh.   "You coming on the hike with us?" I asked him. "    Sam and I are going to that place."   "Yes of course" he nods. "We can take some cute pics of your new hair and you can post a hot ass one!"   "Sure" I laugh.   "Dude why aren't you eating?" Caleb asks.   "I don't have money. I forgot some" I laugh. "But I remembered to drink. GRANOLA BARS!" I smile taking my two out and eating them.   "So! Let's get down to business" Austin states.   "TO DEFEAT THE HANNNNSSSS" I sing the Mulan song.   "No seriousness!" Austin says. "Why the hell is Sam being a complete stranger!? Aka quiet! b***h you're just as loud and social as Jo" Austin says.   "Yeah, I agree! What's wrong. You've been like this since first block" I look at him.   "No I'm good" he shakes his head. "Want this?" He pushes his plate to me. It's more than half a pizza.   "Oh my god, are you getting sick?" I press my hand against his forehead but he was fine.   "No" he swats my hand away. "I'm wonderful. I just didn't get a good sleep."   "You don't sleep!" I state. "Barely!"   "b***h how do you know?" Austin gives me a look.   "Insomnia Austin" I squint my eyes at him.   "Leave me alone" Sam laughs. "I'm better than ever."   "You ain't fooling no one Samuel" I state.   "Okay" he shakes his head. ~   "b***h why is this the only day it has been hot. The day we hike" Austin groans as we walk up the hill. The hike was a little drive away, not in the city.   "Why are you asking us. We're all dying" I reply. We all went home got changed chilled for a little while and came here. Dylan said he was busy with practice so he couldn't come.   "Water please?" Sam asks I hand him one. By now he's in his shorts and has taken his shirt off and it's hanging from the waistband of his shorts.   "At least we've got a great view!" Austin smirks I laugh.   "I don't need to be harassed right now Austin" Sam laughs.   "Too late sweetie!" He says I laugh again.   "When is this done?" They both ask.   "Why are you asking Austin. We have not too much to go" I say. "We'll live."   "Yeah hopefully" Sam mutters.   "We need to work out more" Austin groans.   "I think it's just the heat," I say.   "Maybe for you guys. This is hurting" Austin mutters. "Helpppppp."   "You're dramatic," we say.   "You just found this out" he sighs.   "Ok, it's not even summered why is it this hot?" I asked.   "Because Jesus hates us" Austin mutters I laugh. "I'm not kidding b***h I hate you for this."   "Hey, you said you wanted to come it's all on you," I say. "The top is literally just up there" I state.   "Yeah Austin. You need to chill" Sam nods.   "f**k all of you" he mutters. We got to the top not too long after. We were all sweating but it was so nice up here.   "Honestly. Yeah, it was worth it" Austin says taking photos I laugh.   "Worth all the complaining" Sam laughs rolling his eyes. He chugs some water. I do too. I run a hand through my hair realizing it was short.   "Jo, take a pic of me please" Austin hands me his phone.   "Okay," I laugh. He stands there posing while I take the photos for him at all different angles.   "Thanks" he takes the phone back.   "Hey, Jo can you take some for me to!?" Sam asks. "While I pose acting like I didn't just complain every second of this hike," Sam says and I laugh. Austin flips us both off.   "f**k off" he mutters.   "We still love you," I say.   "Of course you do who doesn't" he shakes his head. "Caleb texted me saying they're all hanging out by that secluded train station. Should we go? It's already almost 7:30?" Austin asks.   "Yeah, we can, just give us some more time to recoup" I nod. I sit down on a patch of grass and dirt. I enjoy the view. Sam sits next to me while Austin types on his phone.   "Thanks for taking me here. It's nice" he says.   "Don't have to say thanks" I laugh a bit.   "Also... I'm sorry I was being weird and kind of a d**k today" he adds in.   "Everyone has those days Sam" I reply. "It's all good, plus I was gonna excuse it with a coffee tonight" I smile.   "Right" he laughs. "Good idea" he nods.   "I always have good ideas" I state.   "Yeah definitely" he nods. We stare at the view just enjoying. And Austin in all his glory typing on his phone.
