The Dark Prince

 Sneaking back on to the property was easy, now to get back to her room without being seen was the hard part. Walking past the barn, Jai looked about to see where her Father was screaming her name, when she saw him she went the other way and snuck in the back of the house and ran upstairs to only strip and wrap a towel around her hair and body before walking out of her room and tell her Father she was coming. As she opened her door her older brother was just staring at her from head to toe, it always freaked her out the way he looked at her. She startled and laughed “ I didn’t see you there John, everything ok? I hear Father yelling for me, sorry I was in the shower and couldn’t hear.” though as she said that, her brother just looked at her with his eyebrow rose like he didn’t believe her. But all he did was shake his head “ get dressed we have company soon and Father wants all his kids ready. Dressed and looking decent. So don’t be putting on pants, wear one of those nice dresses you got in your closest”  she didn’t know how he knew she had the dresses, there were only two, but she had them for events like this. But the only people who knew about them were her step-mother and her little sister she shared a room with. 

She nodded to him and went to close the door but he snuck his foot out to stop her from closing it as he leaned in closer to her “ and if I were you, I would actually take a shower, you smell like sweat” he touched the top of her towel as to shove it off her, but she caught it right before he got a look at her body. She kicked at his foot and slammed the door shut and locked it , leaning against it she took a couple of deep breaths before walking over to the closest and finding one of the dresses that would look decent for her Father but didn’t show off too much of her body. 

After taking a shower and getting dressed it was 2 hours later before she decided it was time to leave her room before her Father came up to get her or worse sent John to get her. As she was coming down the stairs she heard voices, one was her Father and the other was a voice she never heard before. She stopped halfway down to see if she could hear more. But the only thing she heard was her Father telling John to go fetch her, so she quickly went the rest of the way down.. “ I am here Fa..” she stopped speaking when she saw Caleb and Rose with their parents and a tall male with silver hair, like the twins. He was wearing a suit and speaking to her Father like he knew who he was. She looked over at Caleb and Rose who just shrugged and shook their heads. 

“ Ahh, Glad to see you finally made it Jalissa, I want to introduce you to some important people of the community” her Father spoke as he gave her a look, making sure she didn’t disrespect him while in front of them.. As she walked over she tried to look at the male a bit more to see if she knew who he was but she couldn’t place him, he did look like Caleb, though a lot older and more, more, well she couldn’t point it out but she raised her head and walked towards her Father. “ Hi Father, I am sorry I didn’t get down here sooner, I was reading one of those books you asked me to read “ though she was lying and she knew her Father could tell, he didn’t say anything about it.  

Her Father grinned as he placed his hand upon her shoulder just a little too hard “ Good , good Jalissa. Come let me introduce you to the Carlisi Family” he pushed her in front of him hard but not enough for everyone to see him do it. “ Mark, this is my daughter Jalissa. Jalissa this is Mark he is our next door neighbor, I am sure you have seen his twins Caleb and Rose at school” he smiled over at them, she looked at her friends but just waved before looking back at Mark 

“ It is nice to meet you Mr. Carlisi” she would nod her head to him as if he was a king. He just chuckled and smiled “ Ahh child you can call me Mark, no need for any formalities, we are to be family after all”  She gasped as she looked at her Father before she looked at the other male “ Family? Oh is John or one of my sisters getting married?” she would ask. Her Father just laughed “ No Jalissa, this man is to be your betrothed, now be polite and say Hi to Josh” with that she just stood there with her mouth open before looking at Caleb and Rose who also looked shocked by the news. Before looking back at her Father and the man who she just learned was her betrothed.
