The attack came at midnight. Alex was in the training room, pushing his body to its limits, when the first explosion rocked the safe house. The walls shook. Dust rained from the ceiling. The lights flickered and died. He was on his feet in an instant, his power blazing. The darkness was surging, but he was in control. "Incoming!" Sebastian's voice crackled through the comms. "Multiple targets! Heavy weapons!" Alex ran to the command center. The tactical display showed dozens of enemy combatants swarming the perimeter.
