Eight hundred years had passed since Phil Jackson sacrificed himself to merge with the world. Countless specks of his core life force turned into thousands of magic seeds scattered all over the Water Sphere Continent.
All those years ago, Dracula and Marquis led every powerful clansman across the Endless Sea to the southern continent, where heaven's restraining rules had no power, to hide away and heal their wounds. Only mid and low-level clansfolk stayed behind to guard their northern homeland.
The restraining rules he left locked the whole land: no more Wolf King-level strong people could ever be born among werewolves, and vampires lost all ways to grow past Lord rank. Any creature born here who wanted to break the strength lock had no choice but cross the Endless Sea to the southern continent.
The magic seeds scattered everywhere broke the land's long silence. The three races split land by terrain, fighting openly and secretly for hundreds of years over element seeds and territory.
The northern border was a thousand-li frozen land, lined with ten-thousand-ren snow mountains, crossed by mountain valleys and endless ancient forests—this was the fixed territory of the leftover werewolves.
Glacier cracks, frozen underground soil, ice-covered ancient woods, mountain valleys and deep thick forests were perfect places for northern werewolves to train and hunt for lucky chances.
Once someone found a magic element seed, refining it could boost their element power and greatly raise their strength, or they could trade it directly for supplies. If they collected many seeds and sent them with cross-sea merchant ships to the southern hemisphere to offer to the secluded Marquis, they could even get exclusive hunting land as reward.
Driven by such benefits, werewolves grew more and more wild and violent. Each tribe split secret land and territory, fighting often over ice caves and valleys where magic seeds appeared. Only when foreign intruders rushed in to steal resources would all tribes stop fighting temporarily, gathering wolf hunting teams to ambush and kill trespassers along the roads.
If they spotted human knights or vampires wandering deep into the northern border, werewolves would skip all talks and unleash wild beast power to attack at once. Countless treasure hunters died in snowstorms. The seeds they carried were either stolen by wolves or scattered after their deaths, hiding back into the ice field.
The middle of the continent, river flatlands between the northern endless forest and southern shadow woods, was fertile buffer land where humans lived.
Eight hundred years earlier, after all powerful people of both races moved south, humans got a break from thousands of years of lowly suffering—constant blood sacrifices, forced mining and weapon forging. Drawing on free floating natural power between heaven and earth, humans multiplied and grew strong. Humans didn't have the werewolves' tough bodies or the vampires' soul-eating tricks, but they thought carefully and stuck together tightly. They figured out ways to absorb element seeds, creating their own unique natural magic path.
The strength lock Phil Jackson set barely limited humans, and magic seeds brought humans the biggest power boost—this was the race's greatest lucky chance. Once eaten, a natural seed fused tightly with the body, giving the holder matching element magic power. No one could steal it by force: if a seed holder was cornered, they could blow up the seed to create a huge area explosion, bringing disaster to any robber. After blowing up, the seeds fled fast, leaving neither side with anything.
A single natural seed could not only greatly extend lifespan, but also temper the body and raise fighting strength, letting humans stand against werewolves and vampires. Even so, pure humans were limited by their natural bodies, still weaker than Alpha-level werewolves and Lord-level vampires. They could only keep a fragile balance in the northern continent.
Extra seeds could be made into protective spirit pendants, set up enemy-blocking magic barriers, or sent to neutral city-states for auction and trade, exchanged for werewolf frost-proof beast hides and vampire forged weapons.
Human territory was split into three areas:
Great Lake Kingdom, closest to the northern werewolf border;
Redstone Kingdom, along the southern border;
Guichen City, the only neutral city-state in the northern continent, sitting right in the mainland center. It was the safest place across all northern land, with trading halls and auction houses inside. Seeds, weapons, materials and training skills could all be traded here. People of all three races could enter temporarily to do business, keeping a delicate balance for hundreds of years.
The southern part of the northern continent held boundless shadow woods, covered all over with blood thorns, crossed by countless underground caves—the living area of low-level vampires.
Dracula took all Dukes, Princes and upper leaders south, leaving behind vampires with incomplete bloodlines weighed down by heaven's suppression. Even faint holy light could burn their skin, so they had to rely on human blood supplies to survive.
Natural magic seeds were hidden in underground blood rivers, abandoned old castles and dark caves. Found seeds could be sent south by merchant ships to trade for high-level training supplies, or earn permission to train in powerful people's southern land.
Vampires were good at hiding and assassination, rarely fighting werewolves head-on. Instead, they snuck into central flatlands and northern border edges after dark, ambushing lone trainers to rob their goods. The whole southern wood was filled with soul-eating blood mist traps. Outsiders who rushed in without caution would be tangled by evil power, their blood drained dry, bones thrown deep into the caves.
Vampire society had strict ranks. All robbed goods must be handed to managers for even distribution; low blood slaves who hid treasures privately would suffer bone-rotting blood curses. Deep conflicts split vampire branches, who often worked with foreign teams to wipe out rivals fighting over good resources.
Clear borders separated the three races' land, yet peace never lasted a single day. The clans had made temporary alliances for short-term benefits, and drawn blades against each other over resource fights—their friendships and hatred shifted nonstop. Battle leftover bones could be seen everywhere on wastelands, glaciers and thick woods.
One special soul seed, wrapped with the Ancestor's Ring and the Primordial Source's core heart blood, lay quiet deep in an untouched secret land of the continent, waiting for one person to appear and stir up the fate of the whole Water Sphere Continent.
