They left late in the evening with the turn of the sun. Flying on Aakesh’s back, Kendy made herself comfortable before staring out over the vast waters underneath them. The silence between them was, for the first time, comforting instead of heavy. And for the first time, Kendy felt hope for their future. As darkness descended, Aakesh reached out with his thoughts. “What are you thinking of, Little One?” “Everything… Nothing…”  Her voice sounded distant to Aakesh’s ears and slowly he turned his huge red head to blink a dark onyx orb at her. “Your voice tells me something different.” While his first sentence had been through mind link, this one was aloud, making Kendy cringe at the sudden loudness of it in the silence of the night.  Blinking rapidly, Kendy focused on him, smiling ruefull
