A gate slamming shut.
The slivering sounds of things rather left undiscovered.
Tears for a mum and dad and brother she thought to never see again.
Darkness… Oppressing darkness… Endless darkness…
A scream when something ran over her body…
“Kendy! Wake up!” A rough hand, but soft and gentle touching her shoulder, shaking her awake. Aakesh’s concerned face took in her appearance. She must have drifted off next to the fire. Her head was cushioned on her small handbag, the only thing she had thought of grabbing before she left. The nightmare was still fresh in her mind and she could feel herself shaking from the reseeding fear.
