Chapter 2

1036 Words
Maya's POV The next day, I woke up sweating all over. Why was I having such a nightmare? My phone rang and a message popped in. “ Get me three million dollars, or I will post what happened last night. I am sure daddy's little girl wouldn't want to look bad," the message read. It was from Ethan. Another message popped in, and it was a video of me and the dead girl. It only showed when I pushed her away from myself while threatening to kill her if she came any closer. “ f**k! Did that bastard plan everything?" I asked, biting hard on my lips. As I took a look at it, I felt my blood boiling with anger. I took a deep breath to control myself before getting out of bed. I can't believe that asshole was threatening me over last night's escapades. Did he actually think I was a pushover? But then it was better to clear things up. I had only one option left and that was to go back to where it all started. With that thought in my mind, I got ready for the day's activities. I needed to go check on the KSS club and see if they had found the corpse yet. It was already morning so it was likely the police would have been informed. I just hope it's not too late by the time I get there. I drove on top speed, ignoring the traffic light. I was sure the cops would soon be on my trail. Fortunately, I was able to drive unscathed. On getting to the entrance of the club, I got out of the car. Surprisingly, the whole place was a little too quiet and coordinated. I was surprised at what I saw, there was no tape around the club saying nobody should trespass. Everywhere looked normal as if nothing had happened. What's going on? At least if someone from the club didn't see a dead body at least the cleaners will, unless… Someone's covering up this case just to keep the club's name clean, but who will it be? I needed to find out. I walked inside the club and saw it was different from how it was yesterday. Instead of the high numbers of poles where those stripers strip and dance to the crowds. Several chairs and tables were neatly arranged in order. "What's going on?" If I haven't come here before, I might have thought of this place as somewhere neutral and plain. "Welcome to KSS bar, what is it we may offer you?"A bartender walked up to me smiling politely. She wasn't here yesterday! Should I feel relaxed about how the situation is or feel… scared? Damn it! How did Ethan find out about my plan? I thought I hid it perfectly, and I was just about to make the final move. I know it was risky going to that place but I never expected to be involved in a murder case. Besides, I can't afford to give out such a huge amount of money yet. Damn it! I cursed angrily as I walked out from the bar without giving the bartender any answer. I dialed a number and made a call to someone. "Book the last plane right now," I said to the person on the other side of the line as I quickly walked out of the club. Just like last night, I bumped into a familiar chest and when I looked up, he was the same country boy. This time he was looking dangerously handsome and calm. Somehow, his presence smelled of death and eerie. He carries with him this kind of suffocating aura, and those red eyes of his that look so inhumane make someone's soul feel assaulted when they have eye contact with them. “ We meet again, my lady,” he said with a smirk. I could have admired him much longer but I was already in haste to get out of the mess of last night. So I just managed to peel my eyes off him as I turned around to leave. “ Not so fast, Miss Maya- If you wish to save your father, Francis Holsten.” I stopped at the mention of my father's name. Who were these guys? “ Who are you and how the f**k did you know my father?” I scoffed angrily, even when the aura around me was so oppressive. “ So feisty! My perfect thorny rose,” his eerie voice pierce through the morning breeze, making my heart flutter. In fear and- excitement? “ Cut off that s**t, man. I don't care who you are but I don't think you would want to cross my father,” I humphed, turning around to leave. It was getting late and I had to take the earliest flight out of this damn place. That's the only way I could deal with Ethan. I know I need to come clean with my father and I might even be grounded, but it was better than getting pinned with murder. “ Oh… Francis? It's going to be interesting to watch him coming for me,” he replied, smiling faintly. I frowned at his words. He wasn't the least shaken by the mention of my dad's name. Instead, he walked towards me with eyes as red as a newly erupted volcano. I felt the chill all over my body as hotness descended on me as if I just entered into the gates of hell. Even if he was a mafia Lord too, my father wasn't the one to be toyed with in the mafia world. Yet, there was something dreary about this man. So dreary that I had to take several steps backward. “ Who the hell are you!” I panicked, trying to find a way out of this mess. I continue to curse at Ethan for putting me in such a mess. “ Don't bother about me. Just know you are mine,” his luscious lips played around as he breathed out on my neck. I bit down my lips to restrain my wobbling knees but a sharp pain on my neck brought me into an endless darkness.
