It was almost eight in the evening. Lachlan had been expecting Halle. He called her many times but she wasn’t picking up. He decided to remain calm, maybe she was just running late. Occasionally, he would stroll to the garden then climb back up. He went up to Eli's room once, she wasn’t there. When he couldn’t take it anymore, he jumped out with his car keys. Could Halle be in trouble? Should he call Charlie? No, she said he wasn’t around earlier. How about Veronica? He didn’t want her worrying. He would check on Halle himself.
He was about to knock on the door when Charlie flung the door open.
“Why are you here, Lachlan?” Charlie was expressionless and he folded his arms.
“Charlie. What’s up, man?” His smile dropped at Charlie's unwelcoming demeanor.
