Halle gasped in shock as she and Lachlan locked gazes with one another. She struggled to jump out of his arms but ended up twisting her ankle.
“Oh damn it!” Halle swore in pain.
“Calm down. Don’t rest on that leg.” Lachlan held her down.
“Leave me alone. I’ll be very fine on my own. I can take care of myself.” Halle snatched her arm from Lachlan's hold.
“You know that wasn’t my fault, why are you acting otherwise?” Lachlan brushed his palm against his shirt, smoothing it.
“If you hadn’t growled at me with those judgmental eyes of yours, I would be so shocked and I wouldn’t have twisted my ankle.” She grabbed his arm so he wouldn’t fall.
