Chapter 11 Silence is Rewarded

1132 Words
I stayed still for as long as possible. This massive beast behind me made no sound other than light sniffs. She would walk towards me and back up quickly as if she wasn't really sure. I felt her warm breathe on my shoulder multiple times. I just sat. Waiting for her to except me, or at least trust me enough that I wasn't going to hurt her. She pawed the ground. I turned then slowly looking, searching, into her eyes. She had light ice blue eyes, except her the top half of her left eye was brown. Barely noticeable. She c****d her head at me looking as if she made up her mind. So, I took my senses and reached out with my mind to glean the information that I needed. Turns out they were even more dumb than I thought. They, thought this dog was deaf. Because she didn't do things they wanted her to do. They developed a way to train her that was just abusive. All their plans and actions was laid out for her to see and hear. This was what I was searching for. They didn't have any other purpose then to bring me in dead or alive. To answer for the atrocities I had committed. At this time the sun was high in the sky. I was still combing through her memories. Until I had every scrap of information as I could. Turns out my mate wasn't my mate. It was some type of spell to keep me under wraps. Of course, the fifth family decided this. Now that they were dead, we all know the magic died with them. I wasn't for sure exactly how that worked but I also didn't care. I somehow met a mate and conceived all within a span of a few days. If that isn't bad luck I don't know what is. My thoughts were different now. I was on a self destructive mission before, but as the time dragged on, I realized there was no mission worth my new found family. Wether I liked the guy or not. I would entrust myself to end anyone who threatened my child. I slowly but surely reached towards her neck to the massive chain that hung around it. It was quite heavy even for her massive size. She breathed a sigh of relief after I slipped in past her ears and over her snout. I stayed still not making any more movements. She stepped towards me, still limping on her back legs. I leaned in face to face. Then without even breathing I gripped her by the scruff, wrapped one arm around her throat and dove into the water. Dirt and hair floated around us as she struggled. Clawing and kicking. I covered her muzzle with an air bubble so she could breathe, and whispered. It's okay. Over and over until eventually she allowed my hands to roam over her furr, cleaning and massaging the matts. I knew I couldn't get everything but I could do my best. I healed her injuries with the water from the river. Sirens can do even more impossible things while inside the water. She was still skittish of me even after I brought her back onto the bank. She took off, almost immediately after I removed her muzzle. I knew by that point she was gone for good, but I did what I could, which was more than what anyone ever did for me. I turned to go back to the cave in which my child's father waited. I laughed a little to myself if he was awake he was gonna be angry. If he was awake. I looked out across the river, simultaneously looking for someone and searching for danger. I senses no one. With a sigh of equal relief and grief, I turned and walked back towards the mountains. I was met half way, by the beast she had blood dripping from her snout. I assumed she went hunting. I hope she feasted. She growled at me, then sat down. I was a little unsettled because it's either me or her, I wouldn't hurt an animal, but I would always chose me. I kept walking, turning my back to her signaling I didn't find her as a threat. She followed behind a ways away to make sure she could run if she wanted. I never looked back as I followed my path up to the cave. The sun was shining, the tree rustling, and even some animals were moving and chattering about. It was a beautiful place. Even if I came here to kill people. We finally made our way to the inside of the cave, the beast was hesitant to enter so she stayed outside. I walked in and my mate was sitting down near the fire, attending the flames. He looked up as I walked in and smiled. In his eyes, was dark energy. It had completely taken over his pupils and irises. He looked stronger, as well as, more relaxed. I could feel his power emanating from his body. His aura was some type of darkness. If I was a lesser being I would feel afraid. I was not though, I then, sat beside him in silence. "Do you want to test your new abilities?" I was honestly curious myself. "My heritage, is death. It isn't something you can test it just is." He didn't look up at me for a moment, then our eyes met. He placed his hand on my womb and said something that surprised me. "Our child, will be protected, loved, encouraged, and educated. If, we, as parents fall short it is the other ones responsibility to make up for it. I will not fail. I will also never betray you." Those words drove home something that I can been telling myself. As of that day we were on the same page, we were of the same mind. I then, explained that I had three more families to kill, and if anyone threatened my unborn baby, they too had to die. The list was growing by the second. I couldn't stop it, but I could start picking off the list one by one. I needed revenge, but my future needed to be safe. I told him of the three families. I explained all the information I had obtained, the people in the river, and exactly how my revenge was going to go. He sat there silently, listening intently never interrupting except to ask questions.I unloaded all my past and trauma. He accepted it with an open mind and heart, and at the end of this winded conversation all he said was," I understand". We then went to sleep, and I felt as normal as I possibly could.
