Chapter 3 Bumblebee

2058 Words
As I woke, I heard a rustling from below my tree. It was a giant possibility that it was danger, so I sat quietly while counting my breathes; eyes still closed. Counting, one, two, three, four,....... holding the same amount of time for each inhale and exhale. Pretending to be asleep. As I continued my fake sleep I heard tiny footsteps. Someone was there. That someone was small, however their unlabored breathing told me they were in no rush. I let my guard down just a fraction enough to peak through my long lashes to the foliage around me. The sun had just started to rise above the night. Barely able to see anything, I was amazed if not a little surprised at who I saw, and what they were doing. It was my girlfriend. Yes, my girlfriend, was just sitting there propped up on another tree perched as if she could fall at any moment staring at the sunrise. Not even looking in my direction. A calm came over me. She always made me feel a calmness I couldn't explain, and an excitement. Part of her charm I suppose. She was a brunette with long hair and golden skin. She had many scars some on her wrists some on her ankles and definitely a few on her hands and face. Because she has had to fight her whole life. She had the most revealing shirt with a long V- cut and she wore all black. Including black denim jeans, but she was barefoot. She looked like a sun kissed chaos, with her messy brown hair tumbling everywhere. Her blue eyes shown with an intensity that I've never witnessed in anyone else. She had long lashes, a button nose, plump lips, and high cheek bones. She was drop dead gorgeous, complete with all the right curves in all the right places. Exactly my type. However, she was entirely bat-s**t crazy. She being a supernatural fauster child as well had a much more terrible time than I. Being as beautiful as she is. Being the type of supe that she was didn't help either. She was a succubus. Succubi are known for the s****l prowess, I suppose. A succubi has little to no chance in the supernatural community. Not being a very powerful race. Having to survive off s****l energy, although easy to come by, was hard to stay powerful. They were considered for service and service alone. Never making enough for themselves or their family, because being a w***e doesn't pay well these days . Of course being an orphan didn't help her survival chances at all. But I loved her. Every adorable chaotic piece. She had come into her powers long before I. Succubi get theirs when they hit puberty, the same amount of time for humans I believe. So, around thirteen ish, she was taken from the fauster care family she had grown attached to and past around from house to house. 'In an attempt to educate her', was the excuse. I never asked her about it. Although, I can guess the terrible things that could've happened. Her past wasn't something I could judge, sense she didnt really care about mine either. I had only met her because my third family lived near her main care taker. She had escaped one afternoon, it was a sunny day and sense my family had spent the afternoon doing Goddess knows what I was left outside unattended...... I was standing in the somewhat large front lawn of my care takers. This was my third family, and I didn't like them. They reminded me of those slithery creatures you see in the woods. Sneaky of sorts. They hide in plain sight, camouflaging themselves to hunt their pray. But they were deadly in all aspects, they could crush you, or poison you , and swallow you whole. I had no idea why they would need to camouflage themselves anyway. My third family had a name although I didn't waste energy on remembering they couldn't be as bad as my second family or even my first. They also had lots of money, that they used to bribe people into doing what they wanted. It was ordered that I swap families every five years until I reach my powers. The only reason I know is because I had to spend another four years here and my care takers reminded me of that every chance they got. I looked back as this ginormous house. It had mostly windows and stained glass. The doors slid open from the side which was something that didn't happen at my first families house. The tin boxed in room they named a garage, had four shiny vehicles called cars. None of which I was allowed to touch. I wasn't allowed to do anything, touch anything, without their permission. Although, I actually had a room this time unlike when I Was with my second family. No one came in my room at night like my first family. These people were scary. They looked at me with hatred. Not resentment, or s****l interest, just hatred. They were icy calculating people. I could never guess what they wanted, but was always scared to give them an answer. I did watch them manipulate people for their own benefit. I didn't want to be used like that so once I discovered this by an unfortunate accident I stayed away from their radar. So while I had free time, I had walked outside and studied the houses around me. I never knew where I was going when I left the families or who I'd be with no one told me anything. One day they just walked in and said pack your bags your leaving and that was exactly what I did. Except by family 2 I didn't have anything to pack. As I turned to study the house I was going to be in for the next four and a half years, I noticed her. She was hard to miss, because she was completely naked. Looking rugged and rough. I noticed the red rings around her wrist and ankles then. I'd never seen a naked girl before. Sense my first family I never changed my clothes in front of mirrors or other people. I never sat in a bathtub for much longer than five minutes after that either. I thought it was a little weird, but didn't deem it necessary to draw attention to it. As she half ran, half walked across the grassy lawn in between to groves of trees. I turned back to the house and walked back in, trudging up the many stairs to get to my room on the top floor. I watched out my very small stained glass window as she was chased by two what looked to be grown men. I had never seen someone outmaneuver someone else so easily before. One min got so close I could have sworn he could grab her, but she laid down side ways sticking her arm out to support her wait. Then sliding around that arm, using it as a pivot. I started rooting for her then. Didn't matter what she had done or not done. I just hoped her effort wouldn't go to waste. I hate doing things for no reason. It's irksome. So to ease the playing field I began to sing. I sang a sweet song to gather the amount of power I would need, and had a tree root trip them knocking them unconscious. Controlling nature is my strong point. She looked back to the men's direction to see what the noise was. Then followed up looking for the source, she never stopped running though. She even kept looking until she looked directly in my eyes. With a wide and somewhat unhinged smile on her face. She met my eyes with no uncertainty, no clarity whatsoever, but also no hate or fear. Her eyes sparked something inside of me that I had never felt before. My heart stuttered for a moment and I wished I had run with her and just left. All the while staring into those eyes the whole time. She would be long gone before I made it outside though. She made my heart beat and she made me want to get even. I've never cared about much before other than my own well being and I learned that I shouldn't care about myself the hard way. But her? Completely took me by surprise. The was the first taste of rebellion I ever had. The first taste of freedom. And it wasn't event mine. That's when I smiled back, gave her a wink and dragged the two men in an opposite direction. This house was surrounded by nothing but trees. I don't know how she got here but I'm glad she was leaving. At least one of us had to get out. She spoke then "Bumblebees are busy." she said. Honestly I wasn't lying about her being bat-s**t. She was extremely hard to interpret even on her best days. And each day we spoke she called me by a different name. Each time it got harder and harder to understand. Today I was called Bumblebee. "I told you, after I found you again, that I was coming back to my last family." I thought I had made it clear but I guess not. "Bumblebee, Bumblebee returned to cause chaos. Burnt the house to the ground.." she sang this in too high a pitch for my liking. She twirled on her toes and smiled at me. I momentarily forgot that we needed to get moving. If I hadn't been so exhausted from traveling non stop these past fews days I would've already left. She very well may never have found me though. To interpret her comment was easy. Feeling as happy to see her was not. We promised when we became friends that we'd never use our powers on each other. So I know the attraction I felt to her was real. You could never tell with her but I was sure the feeling was mutual. Of course , consent is always the first thing you should consider with being with a fine beauty such as her. She wasn't always like this if you want to know. No this was a knew recent development that neither of us understood. We were on the brink of a serious relationship when something happened that we couldn't predict. I didn't have that much time to contemplate it before she leapt to my tree branch, landing on my legs and chest, twisted, and pulled me over into the ground. Her back facing the ground, our faces faced each other as she gasped with exhilaration. My reaction was to protect her first by pushing her behind me, but there was no danger in this fall so I just fell with her. We hit the compacted earth with a thud and I was laying on top of her in a crumbling mess. She grinned then whispering, " Plip.Plop. The bumblebee stops. The bee crushes like dead weight." she huffed and huffed but as soon as I was gonna detangle myself from her limbs she held on tightly. "Missed you, found you, took forever. Plip Plops everywhere." Her hands started roaming my body searching for something anything probably for nothing. But I wasn't in the mood considering we just fell out of the tree. So, I stood, and offered her my hand. She took it smiling the whole time as she allowed me to pull her entire body weight up by myself. Going limp as a wet doll, pretending it was a game. She was home in my eyes, crazy in others. And her little games and teases never ceased to amaze me. You could say my mind was intrigued beyond all measure. Or you could just say she was hot. Whichever reason I had no intentions of losing her or hurting her in anyway. No matter how crazy she was. I dusted her off roughly to her delight, and proceeded to hold her hand in mine as we watched the sun rise to it's fullest heights. Smelling the breeze full of burnt wood and flesh. Not speaking just using each other's company to the fullest extent. Murderer standing side by side with crazy.
