Lying on this hospital bed and the scarcity of interaction with others had given me a lot to think about, I had many questions which to this moment had remained largely unanswered and some others which I had preferred not to ask for fear of provoking the wrong kind of reaction from my hosts.
The only other people I had seen here and with whom I had interacted freely were Merrick and the doctor and the single encounter that I had with Merrick's mother, was just about it, I wondered why it was so but then again, I had preferred not to ask.
I gradually got used to walking without assistance, even though my waist and lower back hurt so much when I did, the pain was slowly going away the more I practised, but even with the progress I made, I wasn't particularly motivated to make
