Miranda's POV

I woke up to the annoying sound of my alarm ringing, I'm usually a morning person

 but not today, I was worn out and exhausted probably due to yesterday's endless 

meetings and presentations. I always wake up around 6AM to prepare myself for 

the day ahead, going over some documents or emails, I'm a workhorse but there's 

nothing I can do, I have a company to run but today I could not bring myself to

 follow my daily routine. I took my phone from the night stand and looked at the

 time, it was just 6:10, so I decided to sleep for a few minutes. After a few minutes

 I looked at the time again, and I sighed, I lazily dragged myself from my comfortable 

bed, I contemplated on the idea of taking the day off and just stay home but due

 to the important meeting scheduled today with an important Mexican investor I 

had to attend. I headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

A few minutes later I returned to the room and selected my outfit, a yellow knee 

length dress that hugged my hour-glass figure, not something provocative though

 and white comfortable heels, after that I moved to my makeup, something simple

 and classy but as for lipstick I went with a red shade, it makes my lips look fuller. 

My long curly brunette hair did not need much attention, just a comb and I let it flow

 over my shoulders. I quickly looked at my reflection in the mirror, smiling at what I 

saw. With that I grabbed my handbag and headed out only to be greeted by  a smiling

 Alex, my chauffer who I consider a part of the family. I quickly reciprocated his greetings.

Shall we Ma'am?,, Yes Alex.

The drive to the company was a 20 minute one, within a short period of time the 

building came into full view, the Sandoval Construction company I smiled as I looked

 at what and how much I have accomplished in the last 5 years. It was not an easy

 road to climb up thecorporate ladder as some of my family members doubted

 my capabilities and I was not financially stable to even buy myself a house.

 I worked day and night to come this far, everything I own is from my hardwork and 

sweat and the unconditional support from my parents, they  were

 the only ones that's really believed in me and one more person, Damien, at least 

that's what I had foolishly believed

That last thought caused tears to well up in my eyes and I felt my hands getting wet, 

only to realize that I was sweating. Ma'am are u alright? Alex's words made me jump

a little. Umm yeah, I was just thinking of something. I was deep in thoughts that I 

haven't realized that I have arrived at my destination, Alex opened the door for me

and I got out, I'll call u at 6PM to pick me up I informed him. 

I walked inside to be greeted by my assistant, Ma'am the meeting with the Mexican 

investor is at 13:00 PM,,, Alright Tanya and please don't let anyone disturb me, please

I was about to walk to the elevator only to stop in my tracks to look at the group of 

ladies that were giggling and enjoying their little gossip chats. I decided to walk up 

to them as I have heard more than enough. Ladies? They all froze upon hearing

my voice, one of them tried to explain,ma'am actu-

Let me make this very clear that you do not come here to gossip but to work

I don't tolerate laziness in my company, not only do I have the right to fire all of u

but sue you as well for defamation of character, this is my company and I can do 

whatever the hell I please and more especially I do not need nosy people poking

their noses in my personal affairs but if u want I can host a little meeting and entertain

all of u with everything that u need know about my personal life, im sure that will 

fill your bank accounts. And lastly miss red hair don't u ever come to work wearing

such trashy outfits, if u work as a part time hooker please don't confuse your work

outfits with your hooking outfits, this is a company not a club for desperate middle

aged slutty women I spat the words out like venom and shot them daggers before

leaving them to process whatever I spat a them 

With that I headed to my office, I may have gone over board but I'm ruthless when it

comes to work and I have zero tolerance for gossip mongers. I sighed looking at the 

piles of documents on my desk, well there is no easy road, let me just get started. A 

few minutes later there was a nock on the door,,,,.what now? I mumbled the words, 

with an exasperated sighed I mumbled the words " come in" . My assistant came in to 

hand me some more files, can this morning get any worse, she briefly laughed at my 

tantrum and was about to leave, Tanya please, whoever wants to see me tell them that

I'm extremely busy, she nodded and left. I like  my assistant, she is professional and 

seems to come to my rescue when I need her ther most. Hours passed and I heard a

knock on the door, Tanya I told u that I don't want to be disturbed I'm extremely busy , 

I said annoyed.

Too busy to even have coffee with me? I heard the familiar voice, my lips formed a 

huge smile, Andre, my cute best friend with the body a killer body of a greek God

 and piercing blue that makes women weak to their knees and get your cookie wet in 

an instant, at least thats what my crazy little sister has told me

 eyes, that attract a lot of ladies,especially

the desperate club of women in the company, they always try to get his attention 

but he pretends to be oblivious as he has always had a thing for me but since

 I never looked at him in that light I have always brushed away the topic and continued 

with life as my love for him is  that of a friend and a brother but he says he'll surely win

 me over one day. I stood up and gave him a bear hug and he hugged me back. OOooh

I've missed u so much u fool, pinching him, he laughed and sat down. 

You know that I had to attend to an important meeting in the UK, and its not like I

haven't missed you too, he admitted.

Thank u so much for coming, I needed this, your company and this coffee I had a rough

morning, I admit to him.. Umm M, i didn't only come here to have coffee with u, I came

to tell u about something important, his cool demeanor now gone, replaced  by a serious

worried look. What is it Andre? He kept quite for about 5 minutes.

Andre what's going on, please you are scaring me

He's back M, he says finally 

Who's back? I asked, my nerves skyrocketing to the roof

Damien,, just as he said the name, I heard a loud thump in my chest, I started feeling dizzy and

I felt my whole body going numb, sweat creeping on my forehead, tears threatening to fall

No no no , this-, this can't be happening, I finally managed to say. U must be mistaken  Andre.

Unfortunately not M, I got to know this when I landed today, and he's here in town

Memories, all the horrible memories came rushing back, memories that I was trying to forget

Memories of my past, of the devil. I have been trying to run away from all the pain 

And  after 5 long years the devil has come back.

I could feel someone embracing me but I was deep in thoughts to realize what was going on

in my surrounding, I did not even realize that I was on the floor,, M are u alright? 

He has come back to ruin my life again Andre, why did he have to come back now when I was 

finally starting to finally forget about him, I said in between the sobs

Miranda, he can come back but will not be able to hurt u again because he has me to deal with,

I will straighten his sorry ass out, and also remember that u are a strong independent woman

who is capable of standing up for herself, you will meet him and you'll will send him back 

to where he came from, he'll go back with his tail in between his legs because he got two

ruthless people to deal with, and look at me, he said pointing to his muscles if he tries anything

he got these bad boys to deal with, I gave him a week smile. I was about to say something when

I heard a knock on the door, I jerked from where I was and I signaled Andre to go see who it 

is because I'm in no condition to meet anyone. He went out out and came back after a few

minutes. "M, that was your assistant she came to inform u about the meeting with the Mexican

investor, it'll start in 30 minutes. Ouh shoot I totally forgot, I quickly looked at the time and 

realized that I still have a few minutes to freshen up. I went to the bathroom to fix my hair 

and make up, when I came back I found Andre still standing where he was, waiting for me
