The Young Fox Female looked in the direction of the voice and said, “She is sick and is getting weaker every day.” Swallowing her sobs, she continued, “We had different Doctors look at her, but none of them can figure out what is wrong with her.”
Scarlet cleaned herself up some, but her eyes were still very puffy from crying. She took a breath to calm down and walked out saying, “Take me to her. I will see what I can do.”
The Young Fox Female’s face lit up as she said, “Please this way. I’m not sure how much time she has left. My name is Niki.”
Niki led Scarlet to the hut that had her mother in it. However, as soon as she entered, she could smell that there was nothing that she could do. Death was upon her, and it was too late to run away, but she could make her more comfortable.
