Adrian's Obsession Adrian's POV She was beautiful. I couldn't deny it as I stood on my balcony, gazing out into the moonlit night. The memory of Elena, the girl who had uttered the word "mate" just moments ago, lingered in my thoughts. I took another sip of my whiskey, my fingers idly tracing the rim of the glass. The amber liquid swirled inside as I pondered the woman I had just rejected. Elena had curves in all the right places, her figure undeniably seductive. Her emerald eyes held a depth that seemed to draw you in, a promise of secrets and desires hidden beneath the surface. I stood shirtless, my abs on display, the cool night air caressing my bare skin. My slacks hung low on my hips. I sipped my whiskey, the burn of the alcohol a welcome distraction from the turmoil within. Memories of our childhood flashed before me. Elena had been small and innocent back then, and I had always found myself drawn to her. We had played together and laughed together, but my father's warnings had eventually pulled us apart. He had seen it as a weakness, my interactions with girls as distractions from my path to power. But now, standing here in the cold embrace of the night, I couldn't help but recall her name. Elena. The girl I had once known, who had now reappeared in my life as my supposed mate. The very idea filled me with confusion and resentment, and I couldn't shake the feeling that fate had played a cruel joke on me. I reminded myself that I was a king, a ruler of strength and power. I needed a strong woman by my side, not a weakling like Elena. The thought churned in my mind as I continued to gaze into the night. Suddenly, a hand came to rest on my waist, and a soft, seductive voice whispered, "Hey, baby." I turned to see Morrigan, her nightdress brushing against my back. She was indeed a strong woman, one who had been by my side for a long time. But at this moment, I pushed her hand away, my focus elsewhere. "What do you want?" I asked, my tone curt. Morrigan leaned forward, her voice low and sultry. "I need you back in bed," she purred, her lips brushing against my ear. But I wasn't even seeing her. Instead, my mind was filled with an image of Elena, her eyes locked onto mine with a seductive intensity that sent shivers down my spine. She had said, "I want you," and the memory lingered in my thoughts, taunting me. I shook my head, trying to dispel the image, and turned away from Morrigan. "Not now," I replied, my voice firm, and without another word, I walked away, leaving her behind. I stepped out of the room and began to get dressed, the image of Elena haunting my thoughts at every turn. It was as if she had imprinted herself on my mind, her presence a constant reminder of the decision I had made. Everywhere I looked, it was as if I was seeing Elena. Her emerald eyes, and her delicate features, seemed to appear in every corner of my vision. I couldn't escape her, and it was driving me to distraction. My beta, Jonathan, approached me with a concerned expression. "What's up, Adrian?" he asked, but I didn't even register his presence. All I saw was Elena, her image superimposed on the world around me. I hit my head in frustration, muttering to myself, "What sort of obsession is this?" Jonathan's brow furrowed as he asked, "Are you okay, Alpha?" I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Since I woke up this morning, I can't get her out of my mind." He raised an eyebrow, puzzled. "Who?" he asked. "Elena," I replied, the name leaving my lips like a curse. Understanding dawned in Jonathan's eyes, and he nodded knowingly. "Ah," he said. "I guess that's a side effect of rejecting the mate that Luna has assigned to you." "Really?" I replied, my frustration evident in my voice. "I rejected the mate bond. There shouldn't be anything coming between me and her anymore. I don't even care." Jonathan nodded knowingly. "That's true," he said. "But sometimes, the heart has a way of holding on to what it wants. Maybe you need to see her, Adrian, find some closure." I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the idea. "Me? Adrian Thorn, Lycan king, should go find some girl? You've got to be kidding me." Jonathan shrugged. "Give it a shot. Maybe after that, she'll finally get off your mind." I pondered his words for a moment before making a decision. I got dressed quickly and discreetly left my home, determined to find Elena. When I arrived at what I believed to be her house, I saw her outside, dressed in shorts and a t-shirt, delicately cutting grass. Her eyes were swollen, a testament to the pain of last night. I approached her, my presence shocking her as she stepped backward, bowing her head and saying, "Your Majesty." I couldn't control the surge of emotions that welled up within me as I grabbed Elena's face firmly, my fingers gently pressing against her skin. "What's so special about you?" I demanded, my voice laced with a mix of frustration and fascination. Elena stammered nervously, her emerald eyes wide with uncertainty. "I... What are you talking about, Your Majesty?" she replied, her voice trembling. I leaned forward, my breath brushing against her face as I continued to search her eyes for answers. She swallowed audibly as I pressed, "Why can't I get you off my mind? Is it because we were childhood friends for a short while? Or is it because, even though you are weak, you are surprisingly beautiful?" Her eyes dimmed, and her face turned a deep shade of crimson. She turned her head away, unable to meet my gaze as she murmured, "I do not know." I couldn't resist any longer. The pull, the magnetic attraction I felt towards her was too strong. I leaned forward, closing the gap between us, and whispered, "Let me have a taste." And then, without hesitation, I kissed her.
