“That was supposed to be mine.” Gia hissed and tried to snatch the pendant from Gilbert. Gilbert withdrew his hand, moving the pendant away from her reach.
“I was the highest bidder. It is mine now.” He said.
“Just so you know, I won’t stop eyeing the Swan Hotel.” Gia told him.
“So I was right. You want it all to yourself.”
“And you don’t?” Gia smirked suspiciously. “We both know that you are marrying Alika to own that hotel.”
“At least I am giving her myself in return.”
“And that makes you righteous?” Gia asked and laughed. “By contemplating marrying Alika for that hotel, you have just put a price tag to your life, Gilbert Monroe. To me, you are worthy a hotel.”
“Your tongue is sharp, Gia.” Gilbert chuckled. “I should be offended.”
“I don’t care whether you get offended or not.” Gia said and tried to leave, but Gilbert stopped her.
“Alika agreed to your condition.” Gilbert slapped her with the worst news.
“Impossible.” Gia looked shocked and upset.
“I bet you expected her to refuse you because of her pride.” Gilbert remarked and laughed. “But since I want the hotel too, I worked my wonders around it.”
“Are you gloating right now?”
“No, this is business, Gia.” Gilbert said and laughed. Gia gawked at him without a word.
“I thought you should hear it from me first. I don’t want you throwing a tantrum like you did in the auction room.”
“Go to hell, Gilbert.” Gia said and tried to leave.
“Are you upset?”
“No.” Gia composed herself and turned to look at Gilbert. “That was my condition anywhere. So, everything is still under my control.”
“That is what I like about you, Gia. You never let anyone put you done.”
“I was not like this before…I learned the hard way and now I will rectify all my mistakes one by one.” Gia said and walked away without looking back.
