(NIGHTMARES AND DREAMS) RYDER’S POV “YOU MONSTER! I WISH AND TRULY FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART THAT I SHOULDN’T HAVE MET YOU.” “YOUR CURSE, YOUR LIFE IS THE PRICE OF YOUR MISTAKE FROM YOUR PAST LIFE, RYDER.” “Damn!” I curse and am still a bit in the nightmare cloud after walking up from the nightmare and just a while ago sending Sophia out of my room. With the half-moon above and the silence that is just a façade in this pack. I am being taunted by the plaguing dreams and memories that somewhat deliberately wake up my wolf that insatiable hunger for blood and death is something that I cannot control, but can see with my eyes. A torment and more than a death sentence for having the demon’s blood and the curse that I needed to find the cure and fast. “You killed him. You killed the only man that I ever love. How could you? I trust you, I put my hopes on you, but in the end, you betrayed me. You truly are a monster.” The past and one of my sins that I will never forget. The snap from sanity, and that one blood moon when everything is defined by the curse. My awakening painted everything with blood and hunger for more, which placed me on the pedestal of the most powerful and feared Alpha. The pack, this pack that I created with the half façade and kind of a lie in between. Is the responsibility that I put to myself to atone for my sins even for a small portion. The pack is more than I ever imagine it could be. Everyone’s loyalty and beyond their fear towards me is something that I didn’t deserve, but I need to face and stand as their Alpha. The pack that at the very beginning is my scapegoat from the lingering fear and regret of myself and the devil that is me. “Every cycle of the third full moon.” I look outside and directly at the moon. Raising my hand and somehow grasping it with my own. A bit stupid, a weak emotion to reminisce of the past that I couldn’t undo, and unlike what everyone knew of me. This stupid fate and standing that I never wished for, and right now I somehow desperately wanted to know the truth and the answers to my question. The moon’s cycle, my wolf, and the curse for the insatiable hunger for blood and death that always knocks and an unstoppable one during the third full moon. “Damn you moon goddess.” I curse, directly facing the sky, and meant every tone and word of it towards everyone’s beloved goddess. “Just wait and see, I’ll break this curse and have the life that you strip out from me. One day, and just a bit more, I’ll find that person.” More than just pride, but everything that is in me. My life and my desires. The chance and the curse for my curse. I’ll have it, no matter what it takes. “SILVER AND GREY. That’s the clue, the words that are enough for me to decode the scriptures.” “Silver and grey?” I ask, intrigued, more than interested, and a bit in a whisper. Arms crossed and sitting in the middle of the long table where my subordinate, one of my pack’s gamma and the smartest one of all, with his wit, composure, and strength that lies in intelligence. Lucas is a proud intelligence general of my pack and military that once is just a pushover, and among the three people who survive my curse ten years ago. One of the people that I bare the sin of killing every one of his family lines. Leaving him alone and the sole survivor of the family that he always assures me that never been one for him. His gratitude and loyalty that I earn for ending his childhood suffering. “The person that you needed to find. The Luna that you desperately needed to end your curse.” “My Luna?” I smirk, thinking immediately that those words from him are a bit absurd for someone like me. Someone who doesn’t even deserve anyone, what more than a Luna? “I trust you enough that I gave you this assignment believing that you will give me the answer that I deserve and was right for this freaking curse. But right now, you are making me think twice about my decisions and trust. Lucas.” “Tsk!” He smirks and then laughs for a while. Knowing and just like the rest of them, knew that I never trusted anyone. Trust and that word is like a curse for me. Something that I swear that I will never give nor even think about to anyone. For it means death and a way to put someone into the hell hole of pain and suffering before dying. “Stop the joke, Alpha Ryder. But you are not wrong in any way in giving me this assignment. I am more than confident unlike ever before for what I have found out and gathered. The answer to your question, the cure for your sickness and your path to salvation is under the pretext of a Luna with a silver hair and grey eyes.” Confident and more than just that. He looks at me with eyes that never lie, nor I could see anything of a like towards him. With his finger tapping on the book that contains the said prophecy and the curse that all my life I’ve been searching for. I smirk, wanting to hear more and the things that he gathered more than the fact of what he just said. “A Luna, but not just any other one, but your true Luna. Someone with the physical appearance that I just told you about. But someone that should have the same fate as you?” “A curse that I have?” “No, not particularly a curse, but something heavy and the same that you have. Let’s say a vengeance. Your Luna that your wolf will immediately recognize, someone that you needed to kill.” Damn and f****** truth that I do not want to dwell even more about. Yet, it is the only curse, my only salvation. The consequence and painful exchange for having this curse. A sacrifice and death that I needed to do within my own hands. “The prophecy and the cure are a damn hell of a cruel one. But you ask me for this, you wanted this for yourself. Remember that you are this pack's Alpha and many people are looking up to you for their lives and protection. Just like what you said to me the very first time, you do not need your Luna, but a cure for your wolf.” “Are those words your punishment for what I have done to the past?” “Punishment? Don’t make me laugh one more time Alpha. I already told you that the only thing I have for you is my gratefulness for saving me from the hell hole that I have been in. Right now, and since then, all I wanted is to dedicate my life to you. Just like what I pledge, I will be your conscience and will only push you to the path that is right for you and the rest of the pack. Now that the answer that you have been waiting for is here, I will only push you to the path of your salvation. She may be your true Luna, but I’ll make sure that you will have your fun with her knowing your lust and all, typical for an Alpha. But in the end, I’ll make sure that you will kill her.” More than just a reminder, but his way of warning me to live up to my title and my responsibilities for this pack. A hell of a responsibility that among my men, he is the most faithful upon. Both a thorn and a pleasant one for my existence. “Is that how it’s going to be with you, Lucas?” “Let’s just say, that I am either or both your ally and enemy Alpha Ryder. I solely exist to keep you alive no matter what. So, all you have to expect from me is to direct you on that path, even if it means that I will be the one who will think of every way for you to kill your true Luna.” His laughter and a sinister smile that I am more than used to seeing from him. His kind of dark and twisted personality is more befitting of this pack. His twisted mind and just like everyone else who wanted to survive in this pack where their Alpha, who is me is a demon in disguise. “With that said I have the candidates for you to see for yourself, Alpha Ryder.” He prepared more than he can do and has already proven not just to me, but to everyone. He presented detailed information about the possible Luna that I needed to have and quickly. “I found the perfect match and the only two that are currently existing with a bit of a feeble life. The Silver Wolf Pack’s and Alpha Reid’s two daughters.” “I see.” “All that we need to do is for you to meet those two and find who among them is your Luna. With what I have discovered and know, I have never been wrong and not even a single moment. You need to meet them at their coming-of-age ceremony, Alpha Ryder.” “Alpha Reid’s twins.” ‘MATE! MATE! MATE!’ My wolf is getting out of control. My senses are high and my consciousness is about to fade right there and then. The worst is knocking and I couldn’t just let my wolf wake up and berserk. Yet, more than the insatiable hunger that it has, this time my lust is escalating. I need to find my mate. “Alpha, I---” “Stay where you are. I’ll deliver my command, but for now, let me be.” I almost growl showing my beta, Lance, my current state that will alarm them and might push back what I intend to do. With the hood that I cover my head, and my controlled breathing and currently to prevent my wolf from manifesting and taking control of my consciousness. I directed everyone away from me, leaving me alone and free to roam the streets of the Silver Wolf’s territory. ‘Mate!’ “Damn f******* wolf! Relax, I’m on my way.” Now a bit struggling to control the curse, the buzzing market is making me irritated by everyone’s voices and mixed smell that is giving me a hard time finding what I have been looking for. “Stop!” I look back and perfectly catch the smell that my wolf is getting crazy about even more. Locking my sight to the figure that was running past me, I hurriedly followed its shadows, no, her shadow. “What do you think you are doing?” “Let go, let go! Just who the hell are you to put your nose in our business?” “Business? Is harassing a little girl a business now? Well, I apologize for not knowing, but I am not apologizing for the punishment that you shall have from me.” “Punishment? Tsk! Aren’t you a little confident for a mere lady?” Gun up and pointing straight at her. Filthy mere useless men are smirking wide. Thinking that they have all the advantages from their number and their weapon. “Do not blame us for your untimely death.” Gunshot echoes, but no one outside that narrow and dark alleyway could hear the commotion or the trouble. Men who use to such dirty things and business are all equipped and more than knowledgeable of what to do and not to any type of situation. With the damsel, no, my Luna who thinks that she got everything under control is silly of her. “What the f***! Who is---” I grow and look at them with the death stare that could paralyze anyone. They all fall to their knees and some even pissed on their pants. Their fear escalates when I started to count, leaving them fleeing on the spot and crying for their lives. “Found you, my greatest sacrifice.”
