Chapter 18 Later it transpired that the Texan had instructed his sister in the United States to choose a suitable gift, but somewhere along the line the message went off-key and what was chosen was meant for twin girls, not boys. I wrote to our Texan friend, omitting all reference to the mistake and expressing my thanks for his wonderful gesture, far greater than the gift which some time later I gave away to a worthy cause. Our friends, George and Lyn, came to stay with us over the Christmas weekend. There was tennis, tea on the veranda and in the evening a lively dinner party where our young cook, Abdul, as usual, excelled himself.
