Chapter 9

**Dustin** I watched as Everly walked back into her house before I got back in the car.  Pulling onto the road, I stopped short again and gave the two guarding my queen some left overs before heading toward the hotel.  “That was some kiss.” Evan says, breaking the silence.  “I thought you were going to give it to her right against the car.” Gavin added, laughing.  A growl escaped my lips.  “I would never allow others to see us.” “I’m glad to see you are finally making a move,” Evan added.  “She is human. I am trying my best.”  “I don’t think they are human,” he added.  “Why?”  “That kid kicked my ass. There is no way a human should be able to kick a Kappi’s ass.”  “Or you are getting old,” Gavin said, laughing.  Once back at the hotel, I directed Evan to take the leftovers to the rest of the guards. I could tell he wasn’t happy about it but he understood.  I fell asleep that night thinking of Everly.  I woke early the next morning to find both Evan and Gavin awake and ready to go for a run.  We arrived before the sun came up and walked till we were just in the woods before starting our run. The run was amazing. For a Kappi, we are incredibly fast. So fast that if somebody saw us running they would know for sure we were not human.  After our run, we did some sparing before walking back toward Every’s house. There she stood on the back porch with a smile. She wasn’t dressed for the day yet and I loved seeing her in those yoga pants and tight t-shirt.  Her curves were making my d**k jump. I didn’t say anything. I pulled her to me and kissed her again. One of my hands held her head as the other wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer.  “Good morning.” I said, pulling away and placing my forehead on her.  “Good morning.” She breathed out.  “Morning Everly.” Evan said, breaking our moment, and I wanted to punch him.  “Good morning guys. I hope you are hungry.” “Starving.” Gavin added, following me into the house.  She poured us coffee despite us trying to get our own.  “Everly. You can’t keep waiting on us. Please let us get stuff.”  “Ugh fine. But remember you asked for it.” She said, smiling at me.  “Is Kennedy sleeping?” Gavin asked.  “She is, but you can wake her up. I’m sure she would be happy to see you.”  He wasted no time making his way to her room and shortly after he emerged alone.  “She will be out in a few minutes,” he said with a smile.  Again, the food Everly cooked was amazing. Evan and I did the dishes despite her arguing. Gavin could have helped but he was all about Kennedy.  “Thank you for breakfast.” I said, kissing her cheek.  “Anytime.” She replied, blushing.  “Hey Dustin, since we are having dinner here tonight, I am going to stay and hang out with Kennedy.”  “Is that OK with you Everly?” I asked, looking back at my flame.  “Of course. Today is my Friday since I worked four days a week.”  Saying goodbye to her was getting harder and harder, but I needed to get back to my hotel and get some work done before Adalyn arrived.  As soon as we got back, we got to work and just after lunch, my sister opened a portal and entered with my little princess. I missed her terribly.  “Hey princess. Daddy missed you.” I said, scooping her out of my sister's arms. She cooed and placed a slobbery kiss on my face.  “She missed you too.” My sister said, giggling.  “Thank you for bringing her to me.”  “You’re my brother, of course I got you.” She said, looking around.  “Evan and Gavin got a room, so you get the extra room for tonight.”  “I will go back first thing tomorrow. I just want to make sure Adalyn is settled. ”  “I figured.”  “Nana and Papa will be here on Monday to help with Adalyn. We all know how you hate taking her through portals this young.” Using portals used energy for anybody walking through, but for young children it seemed to use the most. “Good that will make things easier.”  “So how is it going with the flame?”  “I am making progress.”  “You mean you haven’t marked and mated her yet.” She said with a smile. “She is a human! Give me time.”  “I’m just messing with you brother.”  I couldn’t help but growl at her. Which only caused her to laugh more.  “When do I get to meet your flame?”  “Tonight, actually. We are having dinner with her.”  “We had better try to get Adalyn to take a nap then. She slept a little but she has been so cranky today. I thought she was missing you but I don’t know it’s like she is still waiting for something and not getting it.”  “Don’t worry Daddy got you.” I said to Adalyn.
