Jumping up, I rushed to her. I noticed Brayden didn’t return and Gavin and Kennedy left without saying a word.
Everly had on a thin robe that showed off her sexy legs. Her hair in a messy bun and no makeup on. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest and she did not look happy that I was standing in her living room. But I couldn’t help but notice how incredibly beautiful she is.
“Everly.”
“What are you doing here?”
“This was the first chance I had to come see you since I upset you.”
“Oh! Um OK.”
We sat on the couch and I did not leave a space between us. Taking her hand in mine, I could tell my touch had an effect on her.
“I am so sorry for the way I reacted when we were kissing at my hotel. I didn’t walk away because I wanted to stop. Trust me, there was nothing I wanted more than to be with you.”
She was blushing but didn’t respond.
“I stopped because I knew if I didn’t stop then I wouldn’t be able to stop and that isn’t fair to you. I want us to really know each other before we take that next step. I want to take you out on a proper date and learn everything there is to know about you.”
My mouth was dry and my hands were sweaty as I waited for her to respond.
"Dustin, you ran from me. Leaving me lying on a bed half naked."
"I know and I have kicked my own a$s about it every day. I still can't comprehend how I managed to run away from you with your beautiful breast on display."
Her eyes went wide and I couldn't help but smirk. I found every inch of her beautiful.
"You want me to believe you ran because you want to know me better?"
"You deserve that much. I don't want this to be a fling. I'm all in."
"But you ran from me." She whispered. I didn't realize how much that could impact a person, but now thinking about it makes sense. She was in a vulnerable position and I freakedout.
"I did and I promise I will never do that again. If you take your shirt off right now, I can prove it to you."
She blushed as she lightly smacked my arm and giggled a little.
“I did just rush out and jump to conclusions.” A soft smile spread across her lips.
Relief filled me and I couldn’t hold back. I pressed my lips to hers and felt like I was home. Pulling away, I pressed my forehead to hers.
"I have one favor to ask."
"I don't know if you can ask for favors when you are asking for forgiveness." She smirked.
"I like living on the edge." I smirked back.
"Go on."
"Please don't ever run from me again. I know I hurt you but it killed me. Just like that, you were gone. I know it's all my fault just....I might make mistakes but I will never hurt you on purpose."
"I will try my best."
“Thank you. Now on to my next request."
"Who said you got two?" She asked, causing me to chuckle. She was not going to go easy on me and I loved it.
"Please? I could beg if you want. Should I get on my knees, love?" I ask starting to get off the couch.
"No." She giggled.
"Can I take you on a date?”
“Yes. Wait, I mean I don't know.”
“I promise it will be better than your date tonight.”
Again her face turned red.
“OK, I guess you can take me out. Hold on, how did you know? Gavin.”
I couldn’t hold back my laugh.
“OH MY! Did he hit Vince on purpose with the basketball?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She chuckled a bit.
“My date was trying to kiss me and a basketball bounced off his head.”
Again I found myself laughing. I will have to give it to Gavin. He made sure he didn’t kiss her.
“I might have told him to make sure your date didn’t kiss you.” I wanted her to know I really wanted her.
“You didn’t!”
“But I did and now I owe him one.” I replied, winking at her. I could tell she had relaxed after our conversation. I knew it was late and I should get going. The poison was still in my system and I was beginning to feel exhausted. The adrenaline from the thought of losing her had worn off.
"Are you tired?" She asked me.
"No, I'm fine." I lied.
“Do you want to watch a movie or something?”
“I could watch a movie with you, but only if I can hold you.”
“That can be arranged.”
I don’t even know what we decided on for the movie. Having her in my arms put me at ease and my attention remained on her. I found myself memorizing every little thing about her. Without any makeup, I was able to get a really good look at her.
Her full soft lips and long eyelashes. Her milky skin had no imperfections.
I found myself growing tired as I held Everly. The poison was one of the reasons I didn’t plan to come and see Everly until tomorrow. I should say goodnight and head back, but the selfish side of me didn’t want to let her go.
I pulled her closer and closed my eyes for just a moment.
Next thing I knew, I was smelling bacon and coffee. I opened my eyes to find myself still on Everly’s couch but alone, but her scent was all over me along with a soft blanket.
“Good Morning.” I heard her beautiful voice.
“Good Morning, beautiful.” I mumbled.
She handed me a black coffee and it was exactly what I needed this morning.
“Are you hungry?”
I pulled her to me and started kissing her. I was hungry but not for food.
“Ugh.” I heard a moan from the side of us. “I’m glad you two figured it out.” Brayden grumbled as he walked past. I need to talk to him soon. I had a feeling Kennedy was OK with me and her mother, but I wasn’t sure about Brayden.
“Come on. Food is ready.” Eve took my hand and pulled me to the kitchen.
Kennedy came in a few minutes later and the four of us had breakfast. Just like a family. Only one missing was my Adalyn.
“So tonight I can take you out?” I questioned Everly.
“Tonight.”
After breakfast, I helped her clean up and kissed her goodbye so I could get home to plan our date. If we were in my realm, it would be so easy, but I had to do this work in the human realm and for her I was willing to do anything.
