“I guess that was my cue to end the night.”
“Thank you for dinner.” He said, taking my hand and kissing it.
“Anytime.” I whispered.
“She really means anytime.” Brayden said.
“Really? Can I come over for dinner tomorrow?” Gavin asked excitedly.
“Gavin!” Dustin almost yelled.
“Of course you can.” I said, smiling. I loved feeding people.
“What time?’ Gavin continued.
“6:30 every night.” Brayden answered for me. “She always makes so much food. It would be nice not to have a ton of leftovers.”
“Are you sure that is OK?” Dustin asked, concerned.
“I am very sure, Dustin, and you could even bring your business partner so he can have a warm meal.”

I was trying to play it cool but knowing I could see her again tomorrow made my day.
Gavin, that sneaky little bastard got me another night with my mate.
“Good night Everly.” I said, placing a soft kiss on her cheek.
“Good night Dustin.”
Getting in the car, I linked my two warriors to meet me down the road.
“What are we doing?” Gavin asked.
“Feeding my warriors.”
I took two of the togo boxes with the plastic fork and knives that Everly packed. She was concerned that the hotel wouldn’t have silverware. She even gave us bottled water which I was about to hand over to my warriors.
“King.” They say in unison, bowing.
“Your future Queen made these. Enjoy.” I said, handing them the boxes.
They took the boxes gratefully.
“Dang, I was really looking forward to eating that,” Gavin grumbled.
“I know but those men are staying out in the elements to protect my Queen. The food she prepares is much better than any rabbit or squirrel they can find.”
“Whatever.”
“This is your first lesson, boy. As a king, you must always think about your people. You give up extra of something so they can have it once.”
“I understand.” He said, putting his head down.
“So Kennedy.”
“She’s my flame.” He excitedly said, looking up with a huge smile.
“That makes things more complicated.”
“Why?”
“Her mother is my Queen, so she will be my stepdaughter. Do you think you are good enough for her?”
“No, but I will spend every day trying my best.”
“Good answer kid.”
Once back to the hotel, we made our way to our room. Gavin would sleep on the pullout for now. I need to be able to keep an eye on him.
The moment we walked in the door, Evan looked up from the show he was watching. I walked over and handed him the leftovers.
“A gift from your future Queen.”
He wasted no time heating up the food.
“Oh, my Gosh, this is amazing.” He said with a mouthful of food.
“ The best I’ve ever had,” Gavin added.
“Gavin got us another invite for tomorrow.”
“Us as in all of us?” Evan asked.
“Yes, she invited you too.”
“That is awesome!” Evan said, licking the togo box.
Heading into my room, all I could think about was Everly. How she looked in those jeans tonight. She had filled them out and I wanted nothing more than to grab her hips and slam into her. Her body looked so soft and I wanted to memorize every inch of it.
“Hey Dustin?” Gavin said from the other side of the door.
“Come in Gavin.”
“Dustin, did um did you notice that our mates don’t smell human? I mean they do, but is there something else?”
“I did notice something. I don’t know what it is. It’s so subtle I only smelled it when I kissed her cheek.”
“What do you think it is?”
“I don’t know but we will figure it out.”
“ OK um Good night.”
“Night Gavin.”
The following morning, I opened a portal to all my sister and baby girl.
“How long are you staying?” Faith asked.
“I don’t know. I mean how do I tell her I am a Kappi and expect her to uproot her family and move across the country?” Humans had stories about werewolves, vampires and even fairies, but Kappi was something more humans were oblivious about. However, the movie Dr. Strange was the closest I've ever seen to a Kappi and they called him a sorcerer.
“Take your time, brother. You know Milo and I can handle the realm.”
“I know I have the best Second in command and sister.”
My sister being mated to my Second made my life easier. They did a great job of running the realm.
“Do you want me to bring you Adalyn? I would need a day to get her stuff ready.”
“I do.”
“OK, I will see you tomorrow morning.”
I kissed my baby girl and said goodbye to my sister. I realized it had only been two days and I missed my little girl like crazy. I could always portal back and forth, but I didn’t like being in a different realm from my flame. Adalyn was safe and I needed to make sure Everly was too.
After my visit, I dealt with some of our businesses and made sure everything was still running smoothly.
“Do you want to order lunch?” I asked Gavin and Evan.
Neither of them looked at me. Gavin’s face was glued to his phone and Evan was passed out.
“HEY!” I said using my Kappi tone. They both jumped and looked at me.
“Do you want lunch?”
“Yes,” they said in unison.
After ordering food, I found Gavin looking back down at his phone.
“I will never understand you kids and those devices.”
“Sorry I’ve been messaging with Kennedy. She is amazing.”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at him. A small part of me was jealous.
Picking up my phone, I decided to message Everly.
Dustin: Hey Beautiful! How is your day?
Everly: Hi! Uneventful but busy, which helps the day go by quickly.
Dustin: I hope you aren’t working too hard.
Everly: I will try not to.
Dustin: I can’t wait to see you tonight
I saw the bubbles as she responded, but no message came. My chest felt tight. Had I over stepped? Did I mess something up by being too forward?
