Chioma's POV
"Huh? Why? What's going on?"
"Have you gone deaf? I said we're leaving. Immediately." Vinco's voice echoed across the room.
"Look, whatever the f**k is going on, I don't care. As you can see, I'm unwell and don't have a single ounce of strength. If it's nothing serious, y'all can leave. I need rest. And besides, Sybil's here. She can assist." I turned my body to face the wall.
"You think this is some kind of joke? I f*****g saved your life. So if you wanna be an ungrateful b***h, do it in your father's house... oh wait, he's dead."
"What?!" I sat up fast, staring fiercely at him. "What the f**k did you just say?"
"Sybil, grab her things. Boys! Get in here!"
His men marched in, their footsteps heavy like an army stomping through. They started tearing down the whole room. Sybil had already packed everything useful into a bag. She walked toward me, placing a palm on my shoulder.
"Baby gal, it's okay. Let's just go," she whispered.
I looked at her. It definitely isn't, I thought.
Vinco forcefully opened a drawer, pulled out an ugly scarf, and tossed it at me.
"Cover up," he said violently.
I picked it up, frowned.
"Cover up what? What am I covering up for?"
"Can you just shut up and do as I say?"
"No, I'm not going to. Because I don't understand any of this. Who are we running from? Or who are you running from, rather? If it's the police, I don't care–let them come. It's about time you pay for your sins." I threw the scarf off the bed and folded my arms.
"What are you doing?" Sybil whispered.
"Idiot." Vinco scoffed. "The police? They've got nothing on me." He picked the scarf off the floor and forcefully wrapped it around my head, covering my mouth too.
"Sir, the car is ready," Drew said.
"Good. Grab her."
I kept fidgeting as the men dragged me out. Couldn't speak–my mouth was gagged with the scarf. As we stepped out, one of them covered my eyes with his hand. The air felt cold, like a freezer. I heard drilling sounds as we moved–made me wonder if we were really in a hospital. I couldn't see, but I could feel and sense everything. Suddenly my head slammed against something–didn't know what. Then I was tossed into something.
The scarf came off. I opened my eyes. We were already in a car. I panted hard from the gagging. Vinco wasn't there. Neither was Sybil. I looked around–only two men with me in the back. The windows were tinted. I could barely see outside.
We drove off.
***************
The car parked in front of the mansion. I stepped out, one of the men following. The car drove away. I stood at the gate, staring at the building, the man behind me.
"What are you waiting for? Get in," he said, pushing me.
I turned around.
"I'm sorry–who the hell are you? Just because you work for that scum doesn't make you any better. Never touch me again. Ever." I hissed and walked in.
The energy in the house felt different. It wasn't exactly energetic before, but now it felt off–like it was my first time walking in.
Where's Roberta anyway? I thought.
Got to my room and sighed. Feels terrible to be back. I walked toward the spot where I did the unthinkable–the bloodstains were gone. Looked at the mirror and scoffed at myself.
"f**k. A very depressing atmosphere."
I landed on the bed and sighed heavily, staring at the ceiling.
My stomach grumbled.
"Gawd, I'm so hungry. When last did I have a proper meal?" I sat up, rubbing my belly. "Urgh. Walking down those stairs–I'm so exhausted." I wailed. "Wish I had a maid... oh wait. I am a maid. Screw this."
I forced myself up. Got out of my room and stood in the hallway, staring at nothing. My eyes caught movement–a shadow in Vinco's room.
"Is he back yet?" I asked myself.
Wanted to check, but I was too hungry. I went downstairs to the kitchen. My eyes landed on the box of ramen.
"Exactly what I need."
I made two sachets, plated it, grabbed a bottle of water, and headed back up. Was about to enter my room when I remembered the shadow.
Really don't wanna go there.
Wait... where's Sybil?
Decided to check if she was with him. On my way toward the door, I heard moaning–not loud, but hard. I peeked through the crack.
"What!"
Vinco was having s*x with Sybil. He had her against the wall, f*****g her hard while she moaned. I was about to force my way in when I felt something on the back of my neck.
"You move... you die."
The words whispered in my ear. I turned quickly–a man, gun to my neck. Looked familiar, though I hadn't seen him before.
"Wh... what do you want?" I wasn't scared. Just shocked. Sybil was getting f****d and this stranger was about to blow my neck off.
"To your room. Lead the way."
"Okay. But put the gun down." I whispered as Sybil's moaning leaked through the door.
"You talk too much. Move." Aggressive whisper.
We got to my room. He shut the door.
He lowered the gun. I carefully set down my plate of ramen and the water.
"Look, what do you want? I'm not scared of you. I've experienced way worse than this."
He began walking toward me slowly. I stepped back until my back hit the wall. He pressed against me, gun pointed at my abdomen. He smelled like gunpowder and blood.
"Did you escape from an asylum? Judging from your outfit," he smirked.
"Why would you think–oh, right." I was still in the hospital gown. "Who are you anyway?"
I looked at him closely. He looked familiar. Then I remembered.
"The portrait. The one in the living room. You look just like..." I realized. "You look just like him. Vinco. You're his brother."
"You aren't a psycho after all," he said.
"f*****g whore." He muttered in my ear.
"What!" I tried pushing him, but his weight overpowered mine. "The f**k you calling a w***e?" I slapped him.
He smiled, licking my earlobe. "I know why you're here. And I know about that night," he whispered softly.
"What night? Get off me!" I tried pushing again. He was tough.
"I'm the reason you're suffering. I'm the reason your dad's eating sand beneath the earth. I'm the reason you're ruined. I chose this life for you on your behalf." He laughed like a maniac in my ear. "Ain't that amazing?"
My eyes widened. Too stunned to speak.
He slid the gun slowly under my garment, shoving the tip into my v****a.
"Mmm..." I moaned. Tears started welling.
"Why... why did you do it?" A tear slid down my cheek.
"Aw, don't cry. It doesn't work on me." He smiled like a maniac. Slowly removed the gun from my v****a and looked at it. "Haven't even started, and you're already wet."
He licked the c*m off the gun, smiled, and tucked it back in his pocket.
"I'm Fernando." He pulled out a card and tossed it at my face. "Curious? Call me." He walked out slowly, that creepy smile still on his face.
I breathed out heavily, back against the wall.
"f*****g hell!" I screamed, yanking my hair.
I picked up the card. Fernando Antonov. I read it aloud.
"Just you wait." I tucked it into a drawer.
Suddenly, a heavy knock on the door.
Who could it be? Fernando?
I walked over and forcefully opened it.
"What do you–" I yelled.
It wasn't him.
It was Vinco.
"Where is he?" He asked angrily, frown deep on his face.
