I flip to the next page of the book in my hands, but the words blur together before my eyes. I've read the same paragraph three times now, and I still couldn't tell what it says. My thoughts keep drifting, tugged away from the pages and back to her, Ezekiel's ex-fiancée. Why is she here?
Caelum said Ezekiel called off the engagement. He made it sound final, absolute. So why is she suddenly showing up at the mansion like she belongs?
I let out a long sigh, pressing the book against my chest.
"This isn't any of my business." I mutter aloud, as if saying it will make it true. "It shouldn't matter to me. Whether they're back together or not has nothing to do with me. This marriage... it was for the alliance. No feelings attached. That was the deal."
