He then stepped aside, his expression calm, expectant, as if he had known she would come. Jessica hesitated for a moment, staring into the condo. Everything looked the same. The same cold air, the same scent of coffee and steel, the same emptiness that felt more like a statement than a home. Then she walked in. He closed the door behind her. The sound was soft but final. “Sit,” he said, his tone smooth, businesslike. Jessica obeyed. The couch felt unfamiliar, even though she had been here before. On the coffee table in front of her, a stack of papers waited neatly, a pen beside them. The top page bore the words CONTRACT AGREEMENT. Alex sat across from her, legs crossed, his eyes on her face. “Read it,” he said simply. Jessica stared at the document for a moment before picking it up
