Chapter 2

614 Words
"Hi Mom. Hi Dad." I waved at my adoptive parents. Mom approached me with a warm smile and wrapped her hands around my shoulders, pulling me close. "Oh. How I've missed you, my son," she murmured as she pulled away. "Look how grown you are." Why was everyone saying that? It felt like I'd tripled in size since the last time they saw me. I smiled, walking towards Dad, and he put an arm around me. "I hope you made us proud." I slowly nodded, pulling back as I took in the living room. It was enormous with seven sets of chairs. A chandelier hung at the centre of the ceiling. "Your mom and I are leaving on a short vacation," Dad said. "We won't spend more than a week there, but you need to promise me that you'll look after your sisters." "Dad! I'm older than Stephen by three years!" Navy exclaimed. "I should be the one looking after him and Sophia." While, Navy was twenty-one, Sophia was nineteen, older than me by a year. "When I'm not home, Stephen will be the man of the house, even if you two are older than him." "Man of the house, indeed." Navy rolled her eyes. The hum of a car outside had Mom and Dad immediately lifting and dragging their luggage to the door. We all said our goodbyes, and within the next five minutes, their car zoomed through the gates. Sophia, with a bright smile, took a deep breath and slammed the door before turning to me. I dragged my luggage upstairs, ignoring the intense stares from my sisters as I climbed. Upon reaching my room, I exhaled sharply. It was just as I'd left it; nothing much had changed. I set the luggage against the wall and made my way to the gaming table. I chuckled softly, realising how long it had been since I last played. Studying one of the most demanding courses in college required reading almost every day. With that kind of schedule, gaming had been the furthest thing from my mind. I put on my headphones and had barely been playing for three hours when I heard banging at my door. I'd just begun to speak when the door suddenly swung open and they walked in. "Brother, what are you doing?" Sophia walked towards me, and before I could respond, she settled onto my lap, hooking an arm around my neck. My body stiffened at the contact instantly. Navy moved behind me, pulling the headphones from my ears and setting them aside. "You can't spend the first day you're back playing games," she scolded. "Why?" Sophia slowly guided my hands around her waist. Her scent was intoxicating and her body was soft. I wanted to lean my head into her hair and breathe more of it in. Oh my God. what was I thinking? "Because we need to celebrate your return." "And how are we going to do that?" I asked. "If it involves going to a club, I'm out." Navy's lips curved into a small frown. "And who said anything about clubbing? We're doing it here." "How?" I glanced at Sophia, then back to Navy. "I want us to play a game together." "What kind of game?" I asked, inhaling slowly as Sophia shifted against my lap. Was she doing this intentionally? Just two years since the last time, and my sisters had grown naughty. "Truth or dare," Sophia answered. I began to protest when she moved her hips against me again. My muscles tightened as heat rushed through my entire body. Fuck. What kind of thoughts was I harbouring for my sisters? They weren't good ones.
