Chapter 2

Javier smirked at his father, "You mean the date you made me go on? Well...she deserved everything I said and did to her," he stated firmly, clasping his hands behind his back. Mr. Fredrick's hand moved swiftly through the air to slap Javier once again, but he anticipated it and quickly caught hold of his father's hand. Javier pushed it away. "What do you want from me, Dad? Haven't you used me enough? Answer me, have you." Javier erupted, throwing his hands up in the air. Javier had always been disappointed in his father since he was a child. He couldn't comprehend how a man who claimed to be his biological father would sacrifice his son's lifelong happiness for the sake of his company's partnership with Mr. Alverdo. He was disgusted by his father's selfishness, which led him to refuse his father's demands. He might as well do his worst. His dad suddenly became calm as he walked towards the nearest couch and sat down, massaging his temple in frustration as he spoke again. "Javier, what has happened to you? Back when you were in college, I distinctly remember receiving reports from the authorities about how you spent time with women, went clubbing, and engaged in reckless s*x, regardless of your surroundings. But since you turned twenty-seven, I've noticed that I haven't seen you with a woman. It's almost as if you find them repulsive." He sighed, "Javier, what is the problem? If I had to choose, I would say you should return to your previous lifestyle. This new version of yourself is tarnishing our reputation." He muttered softly. "Even if I ever consider getting married, I will never marry that woman called Olivia." "I can't believe you want Javier to marry that woman. I don't even like her." Fabby interjected with a scowl on her face. "You're only five, Fabby, you wouldn't understand anything." Mr. Fredrick said to her, then he turned to Javier. "It's Olivia I want. No one else." He declared, with a finality in his voice. "Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not getting married to anyone!" Javier yelled. He was deeply disappointed in his father for considering pairing him with the city w***e. "Yes, I support Javier!" Fabby chimed in again, throwing her doll in the air before abruptly turning to glare at her dad. "Daddy, you better be ready to take Olivia as your second wife, because it seems like Javier isn't interested in that woman." She concluded, rolling her eyes. "Will you close your mouth before I do it for you?" Fredrick lashed out at Fabby. Looking frustrated, he turned to face Helen, who had remained calm throughout the argument between father and son. "Woman, talk some sense into your son—" "Please... leave me out of this. He's your son too, not just mine." Helen snapped, rolling her eyes. Fredrick turned and glared at Javier in rage, "If you choose not to marry Olivia, then forget about my properties and companies because I would rather give them away than give them to you, Javier!" He threatened, pointing his index finger at his son. "Well, you can go to hell with your companies, properties, and whatever else, because I don't need them. Have you forgotten so soon that I'm a billionaire?" Javier snapped. "Whatever you have right now, I have three times as much, so find something else to threaten me with." He declared. "Do you have anything else to say? I have somewhere to be." Javier continued flicking his car keys in the air, not waiting for his father's reply before making his way out the door. "Over my dead body will you marry anyone other than Olivia." His dad yelled after him. "Then you'd better be prepared to die. Because I will never marry her!" Javier yelled back, before walking out and slamming the door shut behind him. When Javier stepped outside, he saw his best friend, Elvis, already waiting for him by his car, who lifted his head when he heard the door slam. "Hey, dude. You kept me waiting." "Can we just leave here? It's already suffocating me." Javier mumbled, as soon as he got closer. Without waiting for Elvis's reply, he got into the car and Elvis followed suit. In less than ten seconds, they were pulling out of the building. As soon as Javier left the house, Mr. Fredrick paced restlessly around the sitting area, wondering why Javier would reject his demand now of all times. He really had to get Javier married to Olivia, just like he promised his friend, Alverdo. Otherwise, hell would break loose. Because Alverdo doesn't take no for an answer. Fredrick believed that the love in a marriage was all about wealth, and he believed Javier was up to the task because he was every woman's dream. Fredrick quickly turned and faced Helen, anger evident on his face. "You know we have to convince Javier to marry Olivia, for the business partnership and to prove to the world that he's not gay." He whispered, but Fabby still heard him. Helen shook her head in disagreement, "Javier will never marry that girl. Just forget about that idea." She advised. "I won't sit back and watch you ruin my son's life because of your selfishness," Helen stated. Fredrick, scoffed, "Woman, do your job as a mother! Or I will teach you." He angrily erupted, while Helen remained calm, refusing to engage in a fight with him. There was no point, as he was as stubborn as Javier. Immediately, Fabby stood up, laughing loudly and clapping her hands. "Then be prepared to die, because you know your son very well. Well, enough to know how stubborn he is and that he will never agree to what you're saying." Then, with an evil smirk on her face, she said, "I wish you good luck." Her father glared at her. "Make sure you don't say a word about what you just heard to your brother." He threatened. If possible, she laughed even harder as she mimicked her brother's voice. "Then you'd better be prepared to die." "You little brat—" "A father of a brat." She interrupted him and ran upstairs before things escalated further, knowing that this time, Javier wouldn't be here to save her.
