"Fuck..." Jaxon groaned when I collapsed on him. We were at his apartment once again, clothes littered on the floor and bodies well satiated, even though the reason I had gone to the club was to tell him about me leaving.
He pressed his lips to mine as I adjusted onto the bed and we stayed silent for a while before I cleared my throat. "I'm leaving tomorrow."
"Huh?" He pulled back to look at me, an eyebrow raised. "Really?"
"Yes."
"But I thought you said you're staying for a week."
"Yes, something came up back home. I... got a job."
"Oh," he leaned back on the bed and smiled. "Congratulations, I guess."
I smiled back. "Thanks."
"You did mention being worried about it."
"Jeez." When was he going to stop belting out information I babbled on about at that tattoo shop when we first met?
I placed my arms on his chest and trailed the tattoo that was connected to his arm. "So how are we going to do it? I could call constantly or come over when I have holidays, though I'm sure that will probably take time to manifest, thanks to company culture. You could come too, though; I don't think you've been to New York yet, have you?"
He raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about?"
"Have you been to New York before?"
"No, what do you mean, 'call or come over'..."
I leaned back, a gnawing feeling making its way into my belly. "A way for us to keep in touch, you know so we don't lose contact or..."
He chuckled lightly and pulled away from me completely, his leg going over his side of the bed as if to stand up. "You're joking, right?"
"What do you mean?"
"Wasn't this just a fun fling between us till you go back to your life or something, something to keep your time here interesting and to benefit the both of us..."
I felt like I had just been dunked in cold water. Like yes, I hadn't been expecting a romantic relationship or anything serious since we've never really gone deeper than our sexy time together but he just saw it as a fling.
He stood up and ran his hand through his hair.
"Wow," I muttered.
"You don't actually think we were in a relationship or something just because we f****d a few times, did you?"
I sat up and tucked the duvet around me. "No, of course not." I put on a painful smile. "I just thought we could keep in touch but since you're not interested..."
He smiled and came to my side of the bed to kiss my lips lightly. "I'm always down for another fling if you do decide on another trip, though."
I pulled my lips into a tight smile and waited for him to go into the bathroom for a shower before i started to put on my clothes speedily
God, I felt stupid, dirty and ugh
It wasn't even like he had promised me anything or given me any signals but the way he had looked at me, paid attention to me—I-I thought there was something.
I grabbed my phone and bag with a sigh as I heard him turn off the water and I headed straight for the door and ran out.
I didn't wait to give an explanation as he called my name faintly from his room and I definitely didn't wait when my phone started to ring with his number.
Instead, I deleted his number, got into the first taxi i saw and headed straight to the Airbnb, where Serena sat me down, concerned when she saw me.
"What is it? What happened?"
It was then I noticed I had been crying.
What?
I was so stupid. Over a guy that just saw me as a fling.
I laid my head on Serena's shoulder for comfort and tried my best to delete his face, touch, and moments we spent together out of my mind as I left the city.
It was hard.

"And you're sure you didn't do anything to warrant her just leaving like that?"
I rolled my eyes at Tasha, who was busy cleaning a tattoo gun for a client that was coming in later that afternoon.
"No." Or did I?
I mean, we did talk about that coming-over stuff, which honestly was ridiculous in my opinion but I also noticed the change in her demeanour. I didn't think she would just bail, though.
I sighed and took some devices with me into station 2.
Ugh, I don't even know why I was still about it or her. It wouldn't be the first time ending a fling or even a relationship like that. I was not looking for anything serious, no matter how compatible we were and were we compatible?
I shut out the memories of her moans and innocence and took out my phone that vibrated in my pocket.
It was a message from Mike yet again. The loyal servant.
"Mr Ashford is giving you one last chance to change your decision. Return to the company now or get cut off completely from his will and inheritance."
I scoffed and tucked the phone back into my pocket.
He could f*****g go to hell for all I cared.
