Day Two

Blake Stirring in my sleep, I sense small pecks of kisses being placed on my bare chest as my eyes flutter open to wake up to Phedora's head and her tresses softly brush on my chest to listen to the music of my heartbeat. My fingers find their way to her roots, combing down to her silky-smooth straight tresses. "Last night was fun, daddy." She giggles lightly and I lean forward to place a kiss on her head, only to pull away as I inaudibly gag at the smell of her hair. However; I consider saying nothing about her hair problem as I dwell on the coconut aroma coming from Kehlani's curly mane. I always wonder what it is that she uses in her hair to make it smell so tropical. "I had fun last night, too, honey." I chuckle and instead of placing a kiss on her head, I place one on her forehead as well as looking over to see it is 6:57 in the morning. I get out of the bed and go to the dresser, so I can put on my briefs and some flannel pajama pants. "Where are you going, daddy?" Phedora purrs. "I'm just going to the kitchen to make some breakfast." I tell. "Why make breakfast when you already have some that is located between my thighs?" She swifts motion with her lying on her back as well as spreading her legs open to expose her hirsute covering womanhood. Leaning forward, I become aware of her private female region is coated with her essence. "Looks like my naughty wife needs me to try out her new dessert," I chuckle huskily and part her folds with my fingers, leaning to her s*x with the tip of my tongue gently brushing past to her bud before getting off the bed. As I savor my wife's sweet arousal juices, I close the door around the same time I hear her plead for me. Deviously snickering, I go to the bathroom to handle my business and brushing my teeth. Subsequent to using the bathroom, I exit the bathroom to be greeted with a female voice singing along to Teena Marie's "I Need Your Lovin'" playing in the kitchen. "Good morning, baby." I look up to see my Mom smiling as she is scrambling some eggs on the pan. "Good morning, Mom." I walk to her and lean forward to place a kiss on her cheek. I forgot to ask you about your first day of work yesterday. How did it go?" Mom asks. "It was enjoyable and weird at the same time because I'm working at the work place as Kehlani." I admit. Mom gives me the double look with her eyes broadening at me while her mouth is agape, forming a wide smile that is nearly covered by her hand. "Oh, my goodness! How is she and Tessa?" "They're doing great and Tessa is just starting out in the fifth grade." I answer. "Oh, my big grandbaby!" Mom claps her hands together and I hear the sliding of the screen door closing shut, looking up at my Dad as he walks to me. "Good morning, son. How are you?" "Good morning, Dad. I'm good and I'm thinking about making breakfast." I tell. "So, when are you going to see them again? Because it has been seven years since you left them just to be with that so-called woman in the guest room." Mom c***s her head towards our bedroom. "I saw them when I was taking Kelly and Theo Bear to the mall for their back to school shopping. And I suggested to Kehlani that we should get some ice cream with the kids this Friday when they get off school because she has a day off on that day." I explain. "That's good for you, Blake. You should always be present in your children's lives; equally. That wife of yours does not own you and you don't have a collar on you. You have the right to see your eldest daughter, even though you guys live in the same state, you know." Dad advises. "Yeah, Blake. Just because you're married to that ho, doesn't mean you're cheating on your first born child. You are not that b***h's dog to her owner! I need you to see Tessa more just like you're present in Kelly and Theodore's lives. We all do, too. And I don't give a f**k what that b***h thinks!" Charlotte scoffs, rolling her eyes. "Oh, and good morning to you, too, Charlotte Meadow Davis!" Mom sarcastically greets. "Good morning, guys," Charlotte walks closer to me and whispers in my ear, "Don't forget what I said, big bro." "Charlotte, enough! Now is not the time!" Dad jumps in, ceasing the argument before its inception. "Can we please make breakfast without tension? Please!" Mom warily begs. "Fine," Charlotte and I huff simultaneously before the four of us begin to cook some breakfast with the music still playing while the aura of tension is at hand. Just as I take four cold waffles out of the wrapper from the freezer, I make up the plates for the kids and break the waffles piece by piece before putting them on separate plates and put the first plate into the microwave for a minute. While the waffles are in the microwave, I go back to the bedroom to change into my work attire. While I sit on the edge of the bed to individually slide my feet into my sneakers, a pair of hands rest on top of my shoulders and I look over my shoulder to see Phedora, who is now fully dressed, grins at me. I smile back at her and remind her that I will take the kids to their bus. "Good, I have a job interview at 8:30 this morning anyway." Phedora informs. It catches me by surprise that Phedora is finally going to be employed for a job, so we can work and save some money to buy a new house that is near my mother's along with the kids going to the same school. "That's great, honey!" I encourage and angle my head, leaning to the side of her face, and placing a peck on one of her temples as I gently rub her arm up and down. "What job are you offered to do?" "Oh, I'm working as the server at Applebee's in Shirley." She trails. I briefly ponder at the time because Applebee's don't open until eleven in the morning, which is four hours from now. "Well, that's great and I hope ypu do well at your job interview, babe." I sponsor. "We're making breakfast. Would you love some?" "Oh, no thanks. I'll find some at Seven Eleven rather than facing your sardonic imp of a sister."Phedora scoffs and gets off the bed, leaving the bedroom. "Whatever," I mumble and depart from the bedroom to check the first set of waffles. "Good morning, daddy!" Kelly and Theodore respond at the same time. I glance at them that they are in their casual school clothes and eating their breakfast. "Good morning, kids," I say and Mom told me that she cooked the waffles in the microwave for a minute and I thank her. "Ugh!" I glance at Charlotte cringing and shuddering. "What, you don't like waffles, Char?" I chuckle. "No, I enjoy waffles. It's just the generation of today, we don't see the words, mommy and daddy the same anymore. It's always used as nicknames you exchange in the bedroom that is unnecessarily broached. Let them call you, Dad, Dad-yay or Day-yay, Super Dad, Fahza, Pop, Poppa, or Papa." Charlotte notes. I check that their lunchboxes are already packed with their favorite foods and drinks. Putting them back into their backpacks, I zip them close and look at the clock that is now 7:25 in the morning since I am taking the kids to the bus stop in the next thirty minutes. I return to the kitchen to sneak a piece of bacon from the plate, making a plate of sausage biscuits and putting them in the microwave for a minute and a half. I turn around to ask the kids if they brushed their teeth. They give me the thumbs up and after the sausage biscuits are thoroughly fit for human consumption, I take them out of the microwave and sit beside the kids to eat my breakfast. Subsequently, I hand Kelly and Theodore, who are done eating their breakfast, merely their backpacks since today's weather will be seventy five degrees Fahrenheit. "Have a nice day, sweeties!" Mom tells the kids while Charlotte and our Dad are waving at the kids. "Bye, Grandma and Grandpa! See you, Auntie Charlotte!" The kids say bye to some of my family members and I open the door for the kids, closing the door behind me, and walk hand in hand to the bus stop. Two or three minutes later, the bus pulls up from the corner as the door opens to allow most of the kids eagerly entering the bus. "Bye, Theo Bear." I crouch down as Theodore gives me a kiss on the cheek before he gets in the school bus. "Bye, Dad." Kelly says after she gives me a kiss on the cheek, waving at me once she and Theo Bear are in the bus. "I love you gus and have a nice day at school!" I wave at them. "Love you, too, Dad!" They reply at the same time before the door closes shut, departing. I return to the apartment to get my keys and leave the apartment to start my second day at work. Kehlani After Tessa gets in the school bus; I travel to work and check myself in and meet up with Ruth  the thirty minute circuit room. "So, KeKe, girl... What would you like for your birthday?" Ruth questions. "Oh, I'm still researching on Google. Probably hanging out with my family and exercising with Tessa. And I'm sure that the girls are probably throwing a party for me." I guess. "Nah, girl. I'm thinking about giving you a birthday gift basket with your favorite candy, movies, and your favorite color; purple." Ruth decides. "Ruth, I love every shades of purple, including mauve and I merely crave for candy when I'm PMSing and on my time of the month or when I really feel like having some sugar." I tell her. "Girl, you can still have a sweet tooth every once in a while!" Ruth mentions, "So, what are you going to do now that Blake is working with us?" "I'm just going to let this slide. Some people who are working with their exes may find it weird,. It may be weird, too, but it's great because it has been, like, seven years," I mutter and look heavenward as I recall the physical encounter Blake and I share. "No, Blake did see Tessa at our high school graduation, but not at our university's commencement because his garden tool of a wife dragged him out of the ceremony before I could get to him, so he could see Tessa." "Damn, KeKe, that slut sure cracks the whip on your baby's daddy." Ruth huffs and I arch my eyebrow at her. "Well, Tessa's no longer a baby because she's turning ten this month." "Oh, gosh! Don't remind me!" I chuckle to camouflage the uncomfortable feeling of envisioning Tessa entering her preteen and teenage years when she gets her first menstrual cycle along with the slamming doors, the mood swings, the 'I-hate-you's,' the probable sneaking boys into the house, the talk-- Oh, no!" I fear and cringe for the future milestones of Tessa because I would be distraught if I initiate the birds and the bee's discussion. "KeKe, calm down!" Ruth soothes me by placing her hands on top of my shoulders. Once I settle down by drawing in air as well as exhaling, few of the people enter the thirty minute circuit in their active wear and Ruth and I begin the thirty minute workout with people using equipment for strength and cardio exercises after the light flashes green. Ruth and I focus on the people exercising and I notice an elder man in his early to mid sixties having trouble with one of the machines and I hasten by his side to instruct him on how to use the triceps extension machine. He thanks me and I generously smile, "You're welcome," walking back to stand beside Ruth while the red light is put on view and a couple of people swap from one equipment to another prior to the light turning green. "What's up, ladies?" Ruth and I turn our heads at Blake, who has a towel draping over his shoulder. "Nothing, but helping customers and planning her birthday." Ruth divulges. Snapping my head at her, my eyes stare at her warily. I lean to her ear and mutter, "Ruth, that's unnecessary!" "Yeah, your birthday and Tessa's birthday are in two weeks." My eyebrows furrow at him, surprised that he not only remembers our eldest daughter's grade, but he still remembers our birthdays to this day. "Key, I know that look on your face extremely well. Just because I haven't seen Tessa in years, doesn't mean that I forgot about your birthdays." "Well, just because you're married; doesn't mean that you shouldn't see her." I cross my arms in front of my chest. "I know, Key. That's what my family... Well, Charlotte said to me before I left. I'm still making up the time that I lost in her life. I'm thinking about taking you guys out to eat for Tessa's birthday." Blake suggests. "Like where?" I query. "We could take her and the kids to either Chuck E. Cheese's or Friday's. We used to take her there when she was a tot and she used to go on the indoor playground. And whenever you and she or she and I get off the slide, she usually runs back to our table to eat more cheese pizza." Blake chuckles softly as he recalls him and I taking Tessa to Chuck E. Cheese's when we were merely teens going to school and parenting at the same time. "I remember that, too, Blake," I titter, recalling that moment. "Now, that Tessa is becoming a preteen, she thinks she's too big to go to Chuck E. Cheese's." Blake sputters his laughter. "Too big? You can never be too big to go to Chuck E. Cheese's! That place is for adults, too. All families and friends are welcome!" I chuckle softly, somewhat concurring with him. "So, I'm leaving you two alone. So, I'll come by later." Blake waves his hand at us and Ruth and I wave at him while he goes to train the clients whereas Ruth and I help some of the customers at the gym.
