Valerie His tenderness disappeared faster than I had time to process. One moment, he was cleaning my face and placing bandaids on my skin with such gentleness. The next he was storming out the doorway, rage taking over his dark eyes. All of the chaos was too much for me. I went back to that scared little girl I thought I had left behind.
