She kissed me hungrily and I just stood there like a damn statue.
I can't move and my brain just froze.
What should I do? Should I kiss her back?
But she's still my client!
My personal and professional parts of my brain were now fighting.
But her lips feel so good on mine. I'm doing my best to fight but when she started exploring my mouth with her tongue, I groaned in pleasure. I wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her closer.
I can still smell her shampoo and it's intoxicating. Her body is still wet from the shower.
I pulled her closer and kissed her back. A soft moan escaped from her only fueling the desire inside me.
She's holding my nape and making the kiss deeper. When my hand went down to her bum, she pulled away quickly, too quickly.
I feel like a bucket of ice water was being poured down on me.
I'm confused, what did I do wrong?
I looked at her and her cheeks were red and she's catching her breath. I realized that I'm doing the same thing too. I'm sure my face is as red as a tomato right now too.
"W-what?" I asked her.
She shook her head.
"Nothing, it's just a kiss. I needed that" she said, smirking.
That kiss was just for nothing?
She did that just because she liked it?
"Why are you looking at me like that? You're not thinking we're going to have s*x, right?" she asked in her sultry voice.
"I feel used" I said, smiling.
Nobody had ever kissed me that way.
I can't believe a woman would just kiss me out of the blue just because she wanted too and we're not even a couple!
I shook my head.
"You're such an unpredictable young lady Mandy" I said to her.
She smirked at me.
"I can do whatever I want besides, predictable is boring" she said and winked at me.
She went inside the bathroom again, probably to change into her clothes.
I sighed in relief.
I didn't know that I've been holding my breath for a couple of moments.
When she got out from the bathroom, she's now fully clothed. She's wearing a white long sleeve hoodie and a black skinny jeans. She looked so casual on those.
"I can't wait to see my dad. I miss him a lot" she said, smiling genuinely at me.
"You'll see him soon, I promise" I answered before going inside the bathroom.
We were both silent while driving. Mandy was on the wheels since my left arm and shoulder were still sore from the gunshot.
"Have you read your mom's diary?" I asked her, opening a conversation and to avoid the awkward silence between us.
My mind is still drifting on and off from the kiss we shared.
I feel my cheeks burning again.
"Yeah" she said.
"What did you get?" I asked.
It took her a couple of seconds to answer which made my brows creased.
I shifted on my seat and looked at her.
"Uh, pretty much nothing. It just said that we need to go to Japan. We need to find an ally to help us out. My mom drew a map in her diary but first things first, we need to see dad before flying to Japan" she said.
I just nodded.
Why do I feel like she's hiding something from me?
It feels like she knew something and she's keeping it to herself.
Or maybe I'm just over thinking.
I don't know.
I just sit back and dismissed the idea.
We arrived at the address that Mr.Sevilla gave me. It was located in a very rural area. We drove on rocky roads and there were trees everywhere. We stopped in front a white gate and Mandy needed to lean outside the window to speak on the speaker installed on the gate.
There's no one guarding the gate.
"Dad, it's me Mandy" she said to the speaker.
A white noise erupted from it before we heard her dad's voice.
"Thank God you're safe. Come in now" he said and with that, the gate opened automatically.
Mandy drove the car in and I can see her smiling wide, genuinely. It made me smile too. She looked even prettier smiling.
When she stopped the car, she immediately got out and practically ran to her father who's now standing at the entrance of the house. She hugged him tightly.
I followed her.
"What happened to your shoulder Ryan?" Mr. Sevilla asked me while still hugging his daughter. He noticed the arm sling I had.
"The rest house had been compromised. They ambushed us and we're just lucky we got out there safe and just had a bullet scrape my shoulder. Mandy is safe, not even a scratch Sir" I assured him.
A look of horror quickly passed on his face. He let go of Mandy and held both her shoulders, checking her.
"Are you okay Amanda?" he asked her.
"I am, don't worry. I can handle myself. What about you?" she answered, worried.
"I'm doing well. Red Armour's doing their best to keep me safe. Come in, you two look hungry" he said and we followed him inside the house.
I'm checking my phone while sitting in the dining table. Mandy and Mr. Sevilla were still eating. I'm checking my e-mail when Mandy spoke.
"Dad, we need to tell you something. I think it's time for you to know everything" Mandy said.
I immediately looked up to her. My eyes were questioning her and she just raised her brows at me.
"Okay" I mouthed at her.
Mr. Sevilla looked at us, confused.
"What is it? Are you two hiding something from me?" he asked.
"Yes, we do, I do. Let's go to your study room and talk about it" Mandy answered and immediately stood up.
Mr.Sevilla was obviously still confused but just decided to follow her and so I did too.
When the three of us got inside the study room, Mandy closed the door and locked it before facing us.
"Dad, Mom and I had a secret. It's time for you to know about it. These bad guys were not after you, they are after me. Mom came from a Yakuza clan in Japan before you met her. She was a stow away Yakuza princess and she never told you about it" she said.
I glanced at Mr. Sevilla and I can see he's utterly shocked from what Mandy told him.
"I have Mom's diary right now and started reading it. There's something about me that you should know too"
"W-what is it?" her dad asked.
Mandy sighed first before speaking.
"Okay, I will give you the three important truths. First, Mom's a very wealthy woman. She hid the Ashitara treasure somewhere in Japan. I have the map here on her diary. Second, the bad guys that you thought were chasing you, was named The Red Fox. They are a syndicate who's after the Ashitara's lost wealth. Third..." she suddenly stopped speaking and the room went silent.
It feels like everyone is holding their breath.
"Third is that, I'm cursed. They called me the child of fire" she continued.
"Child of fire?" Mr. Sevilla asked.
Mandy lifted her right hand and a small fire ignited from her palm.
We both looked at Mr. Sevilla and he's not even surprised when he sees it. He just stared at it, unnerved.
Mandy extinguished the fire and turned to her father.
"You're not even scared" she whispered.
Mr.Sevilla sighed before answering.
"I knew about it. When you were little, you accidentally burned down your tree house and I saw it in my own eyes. Fireball ignited from your small hand like a bulb. I didn't tell your mother about it because I don't want her to freak out but I guess, she knew, right?" he said.
Again, the room went silent and I glanced at Mandy, who's now staring at his father. Her mouth slightly agape.
"You knew the whole time?" she said quietly.
Mr. Sevilla nodded.
"I just knew it recently. Before, I thought everything was just a coincidence. Things burning at my own will. I want something to burn and eventually, it will. I thought it's weird but when things got so rough recently, I discovered I can ignite flames from my hands" she said.
"I'm sorry for not telling you Mandy but there's one thing you need to know too and I hope you won't get mad at me or to your mom" Mr. Sevilla said.
My heart started to beat faster. I don't know why I'm suddenly nervous.
I'm sure Mandy is too.
"What is it?" she asked quietly.
"Y-you're adopted" Mr. Sevilla said, almost choking from his words.
My mouth agape from shock.
What?
Mandy is adopted? How? Why?
"I can't have a child. One day, Celestine brought a baby to our home. She said a nun convinced her to adopt that baby. That baby was you Amanda. I'm sorry for telling this just now but you deserve to know the truth" Mr. Sevilla explained.
I glanced at Mandy and tears were flowing on her cheeks. God, it breaks my heart seeing her like this.
I approached her to give her a hug, to comfort her but she immediately walked out from the room without any word.
I turned towards Mr. Sevilla and I can see sadness in his eyes.
"Follow her" he said to me and I did.
