As Chanyeol walks into the study, he hears a loud ‘thud’ from the other side. He frowns as he opens the door. Inside was Baekhyun’s previous Alpha, Kris, talking with Kai and Sehun. Kai looked furious and Sehun was, well, being Sehun.

“I want to see him!” Kris roars and Sehun and Kai immediately back down.

“Who do you want to see?” Chanyeol asks, looking at his brothers, eyebrows raised. Kai huff and runs his hand through his hair while Sehun watches Kris with careful eyes.

“I want to see Baekhyun. I need to talk to him about something.” Kris says, finally calming down, seeing Chanyeol. The silver-haired male frowns. Why would Baekhyun’s old Alpha want to talk to him? Baekhyun had done nothing wrong and he hadn’t even cared about his old pack.

“What do you need to talk to him about?” Chanyeol asks, feeling wary.

“I need to talk to him. Alone.” Kris says, stressing the ‘alone’ part.

“No. Whatever you need to say to him, you say it to us. We are his family now.  You lost your trust with Baekhyun so we gained it, so if you’re going to hurt him with words, you need to say it to us so that we can filter it for him.” Chanyeol growls and Kris rolls his eyes, huffing.

“Fine. I want him to come back home to the Exodus pack. I have found him a proper Alpha whom he can mate with and bear pups for. I cannot allow you as his mate as it is forbidden. Now let him see me.” Kris demands and Chanyeol stares at Kris before bursting out into laughter.

Kris growls, feeling humiliated after his ‘long’ speech.

“You think you can pick who’s a good ‘Alpha’ for my mate? Do you really think he would agree?!”

“Yes. If he didn’t I will drag him back.” Kris says and Chanyeol’s aura darkens immediately at the mention of someone harming his mate.

“You are not taking Baekhyun anywhere! You are no longer his Alpha or leader so stop making decisions for him! And to answer your mental question as to why Baekhyun wouldn’t mate with some other Alpha is that he is my mate! He is carrying our pups and loves me as much as I love him, so you can take all your stupid ‘It’s forbidden’ s**t and get the f**k out of here before I do it.” Chanyeol growls and walks to his desk, leaving behind a stunned Kris.

He had never expected the two to mate so quickly. And for Baekhyun to be carrying hybrids! That was absurd!

“Show me your mating mark,” Kris says suddenly. Chanyeol turns around and looks at him with no emotions.

“Pardon?”

“I said show me your—”

“I heard what you said. I don’t have his mating mark…”

Kris smirks. There was a gap. If Chanyeol didn’t have a mark, then Baekhyun didn’t either, proving that he wasn’t mated. So if he somehow got Baekhyun to come back with him then—

“I don’t have his mating mark, but he sure does have mine,” Chanyeol smirks at Kris, immediately bursting his bubble. Kris looks at him, baffled.

“What!? Why?!”

“Don’t you know ‘Oh great Alpha’? We vampires only mate our… well in your words omegas.” Chanyeol smirks and Kris growls.

“Get out.” Chanyeol growls and Kris huffs, getting up and slamming the door on his way out, not another word was spoken.

Chanyeol turns to Kai.

“Secure the patrolling around the east part of the gates of the estate.” Chanyeol orders and Kai immediately runs outside. Sehun looks at Chanyeol who looks tired.

“Get some rest hyung. Stay with Baekhyun for some time. I’ll take care of the paper works.” Sehun pats Chanyeol’s shoulder and walks out of the study, leaving Chanyeol alone.

He knew he had sparked the fire, so he was going to keep Baekhyun and their pups safe no matter what.

Chanyeol sees Baekhyun sleeping on their bed as he walks into their room.

Just seeing his mate’s fragile figure made him want to protect him even more. He quietly slips into bed beside Baekhyun, pulling Baekhyun closer to him, spooning him and gently rubbing the baby bump. Baekhyun stirs, eyes opening slowly as he feels someone caressing his baby bump.

His eyes widen in alarm as he quickly but gently turns around to growl at whoever was touching his baby bump.

Chanyeol chuckles at his mate’s sudden protectiveness of their babies. Once Baekhyun sees Chanyeol, he relaxes and snuggles closer to his mate, seeking warmth.

“I’m sorry,” Baekhyun mumbles into Chanyeol’s chest as Chanyeol wraps his arms around Baekhyun, pulling him closer to him.

“That’s fine, baby. It just proves how protective you are of our pups. And I’m thankful for that.” Chanyeol smiles at Baekhyun who hums, eyes drooping.

“Go to sleep,” Chanyeol says and kisses Baekhyun’s head. Baekhyun obeys and soon is asleep again. Chanyeol yawns and closes his eyes, soon following Baekhyun into dreamland.
