Fletcher inserted the key into the hotel room lock and turned it. He heard the click and opened the door to reveal a single bed, a small chaise longue, a cupboard, and a desk with a lamp and telephone. “Cosy,” Emily said, walking past him to enter the room. She placed her overnight bag on the bed and headed to the bathroom. Fletcher set his rucksack on the chaise and peered out the window at the splashes of oranges and reds exploding from the sunset. Emily emerged from the bathroom and stopped to look at him. “How you doin’?” “I’m knackered.” She nodded and stood beside him to watch the sunset. “I was referring more to how you’re doing after everything that was said today.” “Clegg said a lot of things I wanted to hear.
