Let The Game begin

CHAPTER4

David chuckled mildly and assured him he was fine with it. Hecould not remember what really happened. David leaned over Jimmy for a kiss. Jimmy stopped him in the process. Jimmy wrapped his hands around his neck. Pleading with him to notify him if he remembered anything at any time. The open house party blared at the Alpha fraternity. Lydia arrived at the party looking for Danny, the Alpha Gamma President. She found him in the yard behind the house.

“Everybody, look who's here. The Alpha's sweetheart.” Danny raised his drink when Lydia got closer to him. “Dan, we need to talk,” she said with an unconcerned look. “Can’t it wait?” Danny asked. “We agreed you'd stop by for the rush” she replied.

Danny fumbled, reaching for her hand but she pushed him away. The music blaring. But at this point, the scene caught everyone's attention. “Listen, I can't protect you anymore. I'm out of patience.” She said, raising her voice. “The way forward is for you to admit what you did last year”

“We've been through this already, Lyly. Haven't you had enough?” Danny worried.

“This isn't about Christine, Dan. Admit what you did to David Jones.” With her arms folded, Lydia waited for his confession.

Danny at that moment was dumbfounded. He grabbed Lydia's arm and led her upstairs. “What are you talking about Lyly? You know that's not what happened?” Danny asked, confused.

“You think you can disrespect me and go free. I've protected you enough and today it ends here” Lydia fired at him.

“Shut the f**k up. I didn't do anything and you know it.” Danny said angrily.

“Perhaps you're asking yourself, what's all this? How will it affect your future and your job with Congresswoman Gonzalez”

“You f*****g b***h, I should have known you'd pull something like this” Danny fumed.

“You're not seeing the bigger picture here Dan. We could lose the fraternities because of that.”

“Centuries of great legacies would be gone in a moment if nothing is done.” She explained.

“So turning me into a scapegoat is your best move to solve this issue” Danny asked.

“Doesn't really matter how you see it or how it looks. ” She said.

Danny pocketed his hands and walked two steps closer to her. He chuckled and told her she had nothing on him. He opened the door and went down to the living room where the party was.

Lydia receives a call from Greta, informing her of the student life officers in their building. The officers are conducting an inspection.

Down in the living room, Danny, furious, kicked food and drinks from a table. “All of you get out! Get the f**k out!”

“Yo, yo… the hulk is awake. We’re so scared!” Jimmy teased. “Listen Jim, she has to leave. I can't stand this s**t again” Danny panicked.

“Are you guys fighting again?” Jimmy asked. “Dude, I want her banned from this place.”

“But she's the house sweetheart and we all know that,” Jimmy recalled.

“She's nobody f*****g sweetheart. She's nothing but a f*****g pain in the ass.” He angrily lashed out.

“Disrespecting women wouldn't solve the problem, Dan.” Lydia questioned his choice of words.

“Guys, don’t be alarmed.Your President is just a little sensitive, when faced with the truth” She smiled.

At this point, everyone was listening and watching the drama unfold. The music was off. Lydia had taken the floor and asked every member to hold Danny accountable for his actions. She pressured him to confess.

“Why do you continue to deny the inevitable?” Lydia asked. “Listen to her guys, she's a lunatic.” Danny was frustrated.

“It's a shame to continue to deny what you did to David Jones last year, plunging every fraternity into this unnecessary probation biting us like canker” she spat out.

“She's right, why not cooperate so we can end this amicably.” Jimmy offered an olive branch.

“Dude, what are you trying to say?” Danny was confused.

“You all know I didn't do s**t to anybody last Formal” Danny turned around slowly.

“If you come clean I can persuade Senator Jones to drop all future charges” Jimmy proposed.

Danny grabbed Jimmy by the collar.“You can't be serious Jim. What does she have on you?

“We saw what happened that day. You did it.” Jimmy confronted him..

Danny was infuriated.

“You scunt. You're liars and I can assure you guys, I'm not going down alone.” He threatened them. “Get it and get it right, because I have s**t on all of you” He pointed his finger at them, one by one.

James walked in, and enquired. Danny sighed in relief, happy to see him. He wrapped his hand around his shoulders and walked with him to the basement.

“James! At last, you better have your key. Come, Treasurer, let's take a short trip to Truth Island.” Danny was excited. Lydia and Jimmy followed behind. David Jones met Jimmy on the way and asked what was going on. Other members followed them to the basement.

“Give me the key, James,” Danny demanded, impatiently.

“This can wait, Danny. Let's go back up to the party” James suggested to him.

“Shut the f**k up, James and give me the key” Danny shouted.

Danny took James' key and inserted it in one of the keyholes in the vault. He picked his key for the second keyhole. Danny turned both keys simultaneously and opened the vault. He frantically searched through the vault several times but seemed not to find what he was looking for.

“Where the f**k is the book?” Danny shouted.

“I don't know.” James replied.

“Liar, I know you guys have it. Where is it?”

Danny, angry, took calculated steps toward James.

“You mean the Book of Secrets? The book that incriminates us all?” James asked.

“We just can't let you have it.” Jimmy said.

Danny giggled, punched James in the face. He charged on him, held James’ head under his armpit, and knocked him down with the right knee in the stomach.

“Danny always results to violence.” Jimmy told David standing besides him.

“Yeah, he's quite violent.” David acknowledged too.

“Does this situation bring anything back to memory?” Jimmy asked him.

“Don't you see, it's just like last year. Look, you don't think what happened to you could've been...”

The campus police rushed downstairs and arrested Danny and took him away. Jimmy, looked intently at David, as if to suggest the answer to him. Jimmy looked back and suddenly his face lit up. Without hesitation, he shouted.

“It was Danny, he threw the beer can on my head.”

Lydia and Jimmy smiled as security dragged Danny out. James winked at Lydia, glad with the outcome.
