Just as she was about to pull out of her parking space, her phone rang. It was Sarah. “Hello?” “Are you busy?” Sarah asked. “Just about to leave work. What’s up?” Sarah fell quiet at the end of the call. “Sarah—is everything okay?” “My baby has Down Syndrome,” Sarah said flatly. “What?” “The doctor just called and confirmed it.” “Oh, Sarah...” Kate wasn’t sure what to say.
