Chapter 6
AbbyAbby knocked before opening the door to Louise’s bedroom. “Hi!” As soon as she stepped into the room, Abby knew she’d walked in on something. It was difficult to miss the anxiety in the air.
Louise quickly wiped her cheek. “Hi darling,” Louise said.
“Have I come at a bad time?” she asked. “I can go—” she motioned to the door behind her.
“No, it’s fine,” Philip said. “Come on in.”
“I just wanted to say happy birthday, again,” Abby said.
Louise frowned. Abby could see the confusion forming behind her eyes.
She watched as Louise fought hard to remember, but she couldn’t bear it. So she helped her and said, “It’s your birthday today. We had a party and everyone was here to celebrate with you.”
