When Ree finally arrived at the palace hall, she saw that the ladies all had heavy books on the top of their heads. She stared at the bundles of books lying on the ground in horror.
"What the hell is this?" she murmured to herself. "Did I enter the wrong hall? Why did this seem like some sort of a Princess Diaries training that I have only seen in the movies?"
"Young Miss?" asked Anne who did not understand what she was saying. However, before her young miss could reply to her, an intimidating voice interrupted her.
"You sure took your time, Lady Esmeree. There would be no special training for you here no matter who you are and who you have a good relationship with," Court Lady Niah said, obviously targeting her close relations with the empress.
