Chapter 2

949 Words
A decade has passed since the ominous invasion of the strange entity into Crestopia. He was known as Allucard, a fierce Alpha werewolf and the new ruler of Crestopia. This turned the once bubbly and lively Crestopia into a town smeered with depression and somber pallete under the oppressive rule of her ruthless king. With the enormous power of Crestopia in his claws, Allucard reigned with absolute terror and wrath that echoed through the enchanted city. The mystical creatures of Crestopia, once free to live a simple life of peace and harmony with the sun and moon, now trembled in the darkness for fear of their new ruler. Each creature in Crestopia lived in utter fear and intimidation as the rogue werewolves of Allucard roamed the towns, terrorizing every sprite, gnome, and fairy in sight. Business in the town deteriorated as most of their income went to paying the enormous "royalty tax" imposed by Allucard himself. The quality and quantity of crops sown decreased year by year. It was like the once fertile soil in Crestopia now turned sterile. This was truly the dark era of the kingdom of Crestopia. The Kingdom of Crestopia was in total mourning for their previous rulers, King Lobo and Queen Esmeralda, who once ruled the nation with law and peace. They also mourned for their lost princess, who would have been the next ruler of their kingdom. Little did they know history was about to rear its mysterious head and shape their future. A future that introduces me as the rightful and next ruler of Crestopia for years, I have been sitting in the shadow cast in the enchanted forest, patiently waiting and plotting my return. There's no night that doesn't pass that I don't get haunted by that dreadful day my parents were taken from me. Their faces and their lifeless bodies covered it in a pool of blood. Thinking about it makes my blood boil, my heart beat faster, and my passion and drive grow stronger with every inch of vengeance surging up in my body. The devil monster took my parents' lives and snatched their kingdom away from them. My kingdom. He needed to be stopped. For the past few years, I have been training every single day of my life for the day I will take my rightful place as queen of Crestopia. By day, I undergo a series of physical and mental trainings that will ensure my growth and development into a powerful Alpha werewolf. By night, I would get haunted by the memories of my parents, soaked in a pool of their own blood. Memories were so dark that I had insomnia almost every night. So dark, yet a reminder of the merciless regime that had stolen her throne and birthright. However, there's another activity I did during the day aside from my schemes for revenge. I had to ensure my citizens were safe during the ruthless times that befell them. To do that, I became some sort of guardian, protecting my people from the shadows and the intimidation of the rogue werewolves. These rogue werewolves were henchmen of Allucard, obeying his every whim in the collection of "taxes" that left the townsfolk of Crestopia hungry day by day. They even went as far as bullying every gnome, sprite, troll, and fairy just for the fun of it. Deciding to protect the integrity of my people, I became a vigilante in my own kingdom. By preventing all forms of extortion and intimidation against the citizens of Crestopia, I earned the name "The Shadow Knight". Fighting every form of injustice in the safety of the darkness. I provided food and supplies, which I got back from the rogue wolves, for the people. I also fought off rogue wolves at times to protect the people against injustice. Although my attempt to watch over my people in the dark was successful, I knew it wasn't enough to save them from the hands of s*****y. I knew I had to step up as queen and openly fight this peril. I also knew how to wait for the right time to strike. The time when I would be ready to face the dark Lord head-on and succeed. For now, I have to remain in the dark and fight the battles of my citizens without compromising my identity. Everything was going on smoothly until a gnome saw me with my hood off. He must have followed me after my last encounter with the rogue wolves, where I returned the money to the people and warded them off. Recognizing my scarlet red hood and brown arrow, he joyfully identified me as the Shadow Knight. Upon a closer look, he further identified me as the lost princess of Crestopia. With glee and a visbible happiness that was very hard to miss, he dashed through the trees and headed for the town before I could get ahold of him.I needed to act fast and smart. Within a couple of hours, my entire secret would be flying across every lip in Crestopia, soon reaching the ears of Allucard himself. This was it. It was time for me to bid adieu to the shadows of the enchanted forest. The once-cold forest has become warm and inviting over the years. This magic-filled environment gave shelter to a young and lost princess in need. Looking ahead, I held anger and vengeance close to my heart. That drive, those long hours of training, and those sleepless nights were all going to account for today. My parents' murderers are going to be brought to justice. So, with a sigh of courage, I took the first step in the battle that had begun.
