But by the time I reached Idris, the rare vulnerability I had seen in him had vanished. He spoke calmly, "Let's get the other injured up here." Swallowing the questions I had, I followed his orders and carefully brought the other wounded to his side. Idris then bent down slightly, making it easier for me to load the injured onto his back. As he did, I noticed a slight tremor in his limbs. When he started running toward the underground entrance, his movements lacked their usual grace and were instead marked by a noticeable stagger.
