"Boys!" I giggle, trying to get away from my mates. My mates, something I thought I'd never say.
"Baby cakes, we're only trying to set a date for our wedding," Sage announces as he rises from the bed wrapping the sheet around his waist.
"A wedding? Boys, we only marked and mated last night!" I mutter, trying to make my way to one of their rooms to find a closet.
"Yes, we know, but you are our mate. We love you and want you to wear our ring!" Sawyer mumbles, walking toward me, trying to pull me away from finding something to wear.
"Can we please talk about this later? I really have to get back to work!" I laugh, as the twins come on either side of me tickling my neck and stomach. I have always wanted this and I just couldn't understand why I was so eager to rush off. My phone had been dead since I went to the hospital, and I knew Mr. Stone must be worried about me. If he hadn't called the swat team already.
"We will see you later then," Sawyer replies as he kisses the top of my forehead before heading into the bathroom.
"Yes, tonight is date night," Sage says as he grabs my hand and kisses it walking toward another room across the hall. I quickly pull a shirt over my head and sweatpants over my legs as I grab my purse and head for the door.
"See you tonight boys!" I yell out as I make my way outside toward the car. The driver, Lawrence was waiting for a word as to where to go. "Oh, hello, Lawrence right?"
"Yes ma'am. Where can I take you?" He asks as he opens the door for me.
"My house, 112 Mockingbird Lane." I breathe out as I hop in the slick black car. "Thank you," I stare out the window as we pass trees, streets, houses, and buildings. Finally, we make it to my apartment and I slip inside. Hades was screaming at me as I closed the door, I knew he would be mad. I haven't fed him or given him snuggles. Of course, he was mad at me. I hop in the shower and hastily put on a tight-fit, low-cut, red, knee-length dress as I leave once again.
"Little bird!" William screams out as he bombards me in a tight embrace. "Where have you been?"
"It's a story," I scoff as I sit in the chair across from his desk.
"Tell it. Oh, hold on. Sandra, hold my calls," He pushes the button on his intercom before he interlaced his fingers on his desk. As I explained to William every detail of what had transpired, even with Matthew Winnfield, I felt the need to see my mates. "Wow. Little bird, you have been through the ringer. You should take a few days off,"
"No, no, William. I'm fine, I promise," I try to reassure him.
"Listen little bird, you're like my daughter. You have been through trauma and found out that you have two mates. That is a lot to take on, I must insist." William persists as he rises from his chair. "Tomorrow do not come in, or for the next two days!"
"Fine, fine, they want me to move in and I think I need to," I smile, getting up from the chair and making my way to my office. It wasn't but an hour or so past the time I came in that Holly's voice came squeaking through the intercom.
"Mr. Stone requests that you join him in the board meeting room," As I walked through the doors the faces of my mates greeted me.
"Ahh, here she is my right-hand man. This gentlemen, is Jessabelle Carter. She has handled all the accounts." Mr. Stone announces proudly as he bushes for me to come in. "And these are the new investors, Mr. Sage Pavlov and Mr. Sawyer Pavlov," At that moment it occurred to me that I hadn't disclosed who my mates actually were.
"Enchanted, Ms. Carter was it?" Sawyer grabs my hand and gently kisses it.
"Yes, I hope we will be working very closely, Ms. Carter," Sage says as he kisses my other hand.
"Stop it!" I playfully slap Sage and Sawyer on the arms.
"Little bird!" William exclaims as he tries to move me away from them.
"Little bird?" Inquires Sage with his head tilted.
"Oh, please forgive Ms. Carter..." William starts apologizing profusely.
"No, need. Now who is this little bird?" Sawyer questions as he makes his way toward me.
"It's a nickname I gave Ms. Carter when she began working her. I would catch her singing along to whatever song happened to be playing around her." Mr. Stone confesses as he stands awkwardly in the room. Suddenly, Sawyer grabs my chin and kisses me deeply.
"I believe we have led you on a little jape, Mr. Stone." Sage pats William on the back as he makes his way toward me kissing me after his brother.
"These are my mates, William. The ones I told you about earlier. Though I didn't know they'd be here today, or play a little game," I playfully slapped Sage's arm. William, still stunned, didn't speak.
"Don't worry, Mr. Stone, we will still invest in your company," Sawyer fills the room when it becomes silent.
"I think those few days off will do you good, little bird. Let's fill out the paperwork." William spoke out as he headed back to his seat at the head of the glass table.
