My Hidden Secret

Chapter 1: The Cursed Birthday

Our protagonist Sylvia white a 21 year old lady with long silver hair and dazzling red ruby eyes, pale and smooth skin just woke up from a long and busy day. At that moment,the butler knocked on her door

"Miss Sylvia,you have been summoned by your parents to attend breakfast,so you need to carefully prepare since this is going to be the first time you are having breakfast with your step mom and her daughter. The master is expecting you to be of your best behavior". The butler said with care and concerns in his face

"Thank you grandpa for your help. I'll be there in about half an hour". Sylvia replied making the butler feel relieved. As the butler left, Sylvia stood up from her bed and went straight to the bathroom. Sylvia was only 15 when she found out her beloved mother died in a car crash on her way home from a business trip and that day was Sylvia's birthday, her mom promised to come on time but she broke that promise. Sylvia felt pain and guilt took all over her body because if she didn't force her mom to hurry home, all the long lasting pain wouldn't have occurred. Sylvia knew her father felt the same cause he loved her mom to the fullest and when this unfortunate event struck Sylvia's father was the most affected and since that day, her father never looked at her as his daughter but only as a liability. One day on Sylvia's 16th birthday not too long long from that tragedy her father brought a woman and a girl who was a year younger than our protagonist to the birthday stating that from that day onwards they were part of family. Sylvia was shocked not believing any word he said she thought her father said he loved her mom but only after a year he's already ready to marry again without even considering her feelings and her mother's death. Sylvia felt ashamed and never thought of accepting the so called new mother and sister so since that faithful day Sylvia never celebrated her birthday deeming it Cursed.

Walking down the stairs Sylvia saw her father and her step sister stacy chatting and when she noticed our protagonist she gave a sly smile

"Good morning sister why are you so late?. Hope everything is alright" she said faking a caring smile. Sylvia just gave stacy a cold stare

"Why are you acting like this,I'm just caring for you since I've not seen you eat with us for a long time" Stacy said quivering acting like she's about to cry

"What are you doing?, you was about 15 minutes late and you dare make your sister cry apologize right this moment". Mr. White shouted

Sylvia just sighed in defeat and reluctantly apologized

"I'm sorry I was wrong" Sylvia declared bowing her head in the process. Stacy was very pleased to see her step sister in that state and tried stopping herself from laughing

"Don't worry i accept your apology". She said walking towards Sylvia and stretching her hand indicating a truce. Sylvia saw through her scheme but had no choice but to agree so she shook her hand in return.
